hi, just wondering if anyone knows what double-din units from other mercury's will fit in a 2004 mountaineer without modification? will new model mountaineer units fit? is it possible to put a unit from a milan in the mountaineer? any help is appreciated! thanks!

thanks. my father-in-law owns a body shop so he is going to fill it in and cover it up the best he can when the weather gets a bit nicer. he asked me to find out if it was plastic or fiberglass. i could not believe what i found when i googled this issue. it's sad.

apparently this is an epidemic with this generation explorer/mountaineer. i have the famous crack right below the rear window near the mountaineer symbol. my question is, what is the hatch made out of...fiberglass or plastic? thanks!

i went with the 255's...no problems at all.

thats the only thing im worried about....but they are warrntied...i think they prorate the warranty but it s better than nothing.

i want to do the same with my 2004 mounty. i have 17's tho. i just wonder why a 16'' can go 265/75, and a 17'' can only go 265/70? can anyone explain that to me? basically i do not want to lift or anything, just want to fill in the wheel well gap with the biggest highway tire i can without...

theres a fix for that. it costs like 10 or 15 bux on ebay. just search ur model # and add parking brake bypass and im sure u will find one.

thanks for the input. i also have stock 245's on there. hankook highway all seasons, and they just dont fill the wheel well that nicely. i def want a bigger, more aggressive at tire, but i dont want to sacrifice too much comfort.
