    Diesel Conversion anyone?

Diesels from Central/South America If you want a diesel engine from Latin American, South East Asian markets that will fit exactly into a Ford Explorer, you will also need the gearbox. Gas gearboxes seldom work appropriately with diesel engines (of course, there are people that have been able...

What I mean is...nice work, I will be checking on for the results

    Diesel Conversion anyone?

A Cummins swap is just sweet... I have not tried any swap in the country I am living in, diesel Rangers (sharing front suspension, cabin controls, etc. 90's to 2006; 2.5 turbo, 3.0 turbo, powerstroke, 2.8 turbo-all are 4 cylinder engines) are very common, an it will be easy just to swap...

    Diesel Conversion anyone?

It is true, many diesels lacking a turbocharger, specially old diesels are sluggish, or low revving industrial application diesels. The explorer is a mid size SUV, outside the US there are plenty of diesel SUVs larger than the explorer or more or less the same being carried by 2.5, 2.8, 3.0...

    Diesel Conversion anyone?

That is correct, until 2007 of course, when they started selling the Mazda BT50 as a Ford Ranger in Central America. In South America you can find the Ranger cited in your reply, very popular in Argentina. Most car and truck versions outside the US seem to European versions (except Mexico, the...

    Diesel Conversion anyone?

Good choice, not a perfect fit with some components, like the Ranger, but a very appealing option. In any case, it is best to buy the engine together with the transmission...gas transmissions don't mix well with diesel engines. Wrecked Discovery from Central/South America could be an...

    Diesel Conversion anyone?

Update The Ranger referred to in the thread Ford Explorer Ranger Enthusiasts "Serious Explorations"® > Ford Rangers > Ford Ranger Forum > Ranger Registry 2.5L Turbo Diesel RANGER, 4x4, Crew cab is the Thailand manufactured rebadged Mazda BT50; I just checked some of the pics... This will...

    Diesel Conversion anyone?

Diesel engine that fits perfectly in a 2d gen Explorer You could import an engine from a wrecked Ranger in Central/South America (up to 2006 Ranger if it is Central America, they replaced the model with a version manufactured in Thailand, a Ford badged Mazda BT50 in this region). They had two...

klonk, klonk from drivers side front

I agree about the sway bar bushings; it is easy to test if that is the problem, disconnect the end links as stated in this same thread, for the rest, the link with pictures has already been posted. About the hum check for wheel play and (although it is not recommended by the manufacturer) you...

klonk, klonk from drivers side front

You may find information and pictures easily by searching through the threads. I rarely make a post, but have searched trough the site for a long time now, it has answered almost all my questions regarding Explorers. I also live outside the US, but of course, in Madrid it is even more unusual...

Replacing a 1995 Ford Explorer engine with a 1996 engine

Sorry, that is correct, I took as reference the year of manufacture (I own one), but the model is 1997. Thanks for the correction

Replacing a 1995 Ford Explorer engine with a 1996 engine

By the way, there is a thread that covers that, but to spare you from searching, the engines have different management systems, check the following thread, it might answer part of your question: Ford Explorer Ranger Enthusiasts Serious Explorations > Repair - Tech - Modifications & Detailing...

Replacing a 1995 Ford Explorer engine with a 1996 engine

If you are referring to the 4.0 V6, your problem might be because you are swapping a 4.0 OHV with a 4.0 SOHC, which was an engine option that became available in 1996, although you could still get the OHV in most trims in that same year.

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

I have been breaking my head to at least suspect on the contribution of the H2 and O2 produced in the HHO systems, as stoichiometry and the potential kJ produced (thermodynamics) do not explain it, with electrolysis as a source of energy or from combustion of O2 (specially at the scale of these...

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

Thank you for the insight, I am sure about the benefits of an anti-detonant injection; and as you explain the amount of water added by the HHO system is insignificant (I am not a HHO expert), not even contributing on such effect; should not be a concern then (thanks again). Anyway, my point...

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

That is completely correct, and cannot only be an input for combustion, it is an output from combustion, my concern is on the input ratio (although the gas consumption improvements on this systems are usually explained on hydrogen and oxygen alone, not in the form of the water molecule)...

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

Sometimes we may reach to a finding, and the problem with science is that sometimes we are using a correct explanation for the wrong happening. The best way, as Aldive explains, is to test it, but it would be really good for someone to uncover what is really happening with the combustion. Of...

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

Exactly, that is why I also included the link in the previous page of this thread, it is a pretty good explanation based on physics (thermodynamics). Anyway, never believe or stop believing until you are sure about anything. Please for those attempting to use antifreeze or any mixture of...

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

Hho Please forgive me for the link posted below, I am open minded and like to have all the facts, well, all the information (to then finally distinguish what may be considered a fact); sorry but being a science guy, I cannot help it. The link is not intended to channel opinions towards a...

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

I agree, you cannot compare a V8 AWD with a V6 2WD (a SOHC 4.0 V6). As cited before, I have gotten close to the 30mpg in the best of cases, but usually get lower than that; of course, I am speaking about a 4x4, so for me getting more than 20 is already a good thing. I nearly never use my...

My quest for 30 MPG - Ford Explorer Gas Mileage Tips

I am now pretty sure 30 mpg per gallons is a realistic figure, specially for 2wd explorers. In my own experience my best mileage has been 28 mpg, exclusively on highway driving, with low traffic. Equipment all stock for a 2000 XLT with a 4.0 V6 SOHC, a L73 axle and command track 4wd system...
