Correct Thermostat Temperature -- 4.0 OHV

I think that is how it is supposed to work. I do not know why it will be opening at 185. It could be that it is within its tolerance range.

This was a long time ago. So, yeah, plenty of time has passed. :) I am not worried about this at this point. I still have the Ex but it is not my daily driver. It is now my weekend or errands car. Not in the best shape but I still have her!

Lighter plug on passenger side not working - Fuse location?

My Ex is a 2000 Limited. I connected a device to the cigarette lighter adapter that is on the console on the passenger side (that is next to the radio) and it apparently blew a fuse. I checked the fuse box I could not find a blown fuse. Is there another fuse location for this plug?

How to: Remove and replace door latch assembly

Doing this now. I went through the process of replacing the actuator thinking it was bad to find out the problem was/is the latch. I had to buy a new actuator and interior door handle. I damaged the actuator trying to do the aluminum foil fix. Now the question is...spring fix or disassembly...

    Considering used 4th gen - V6 vs. V8

What exactly does it mean to have a Tow Package on these trucks? Is it just having an additional oil cooler or are there other factory differences? Gear ratio? Bigger Heat Exchanger/Radiator? Brakes? Suspension? The one I went to see is a 5-speed (4 Gears and Overdrive). The guy said he...

    Considering used 4th gen - V6 vs. V8

Went to see the 2008 Mountaineer Premier AWD V8 (140k miles) this afternoon after work. At the time I called the guy he was on his way to work so that meant the Mountaineer would hat a warm/hot engine. I talked to the guy for about 15 minutes before starting the car again. Not sure about this...

    Considering used 4th gen - V6 vs. V8

I know this is months old but I have to make sure I go this right since I am looking to buy a 4th Gen (now looking at a Mountaineer Premier V8). $800 to replace the spark plugs and $3200 to fix the exhaust manifold studs (both sides)? Did I get that right? And I am guessing (hoping) that is...

Buy or pass on buying 2006 models

Hmmmm...I am going to have to really look hard into the V8's if that is the case although I've been lucky with my V6 so far. I got my 2000 Ex (SOHC) in 2008 with 134k. It now has 253k. It has been very good to me 'in flat Florida'.

V6 vs V8 Fuel Economy and better buy question

I've always purchased V6 cars thinking they are more fuel economical than their V8 counterparts. I am looking to replace my V6 2000 Ex Limited and in looking around I've seen a few articles that show a similar fuel consumption between a V6 Ex and a V8 Ex. For example a 2007 V6 is listed with...

It is time to start looking for a replacement for my 2000 Ex Limited. I was looking at the 4th Generation, particularly the 2006 model mainly because of price. However, I read on some articles online that the 2006 models are not the most reliable; leaking coolant, transmission problems, and...

    Coolant Leak from Undercarriage
