    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

that's what i had on my truck, and there really is nothing that can be done about it without spending more money. you could try dynomating the floor, or another choice of sound deadening. or you could spray bedliner on the underside of the body for the same effect, neither of these are going to...

    turdle's mounty moves on

two options come to mind if it were me in your position. I would work on getting it fixed, but not necessarily debugged. Bugs you should work on would be mechanical and electrical, not fitment bugs or clamps or things like that because that will need to be adjusted to fit the new truck. But...

    turdle's mounty moves on

i know you won't be doing any offroading with the truck, but have you planned for compression and decompression of the suspension with the axle and header? i haven't towed much of anything so i'm not sure if towing affects the front end at all. Justin

    motor swap

you need to decide what you want, Having a huge motor with a lot of power is not going to get you good MPG, getting good gas mileage is usually not a high horse power car. And in the time that it takes for a swap just for more power, why not just buy a v8 explorer and start from there? or...

    The Black Hole

could it be old gas? you've said that it hasn't really gotten much if any driving done on it other then the few trips to the alignment shops. I don't know how long it takes to have gas go bad, but i know it's not great for it to sit for long periods of time. Justin

1997 Mountaineer into 1959 Ford F100 Build Diary

Have you considered 2 inch lift springs and a 2 inch TT to make it higher without having to notch the frame? You'd also get increased load capacity which would help if you're using it as a work truck. Or are you going for the street truck look? Justin

    The Black Hole

That's completely unacceptable. I would have it in front of their shop tomorrow morning. And demand they redo it the way that you told them to. I made that mistake when I went to get mine done after the tt and bigger tires. And they set it up for stock suspension and for stock tire size. And...

1997 Mountaineer into 1959 Ford F100 Build Diary

I might have missed this, but why do you need to notch the frame if it's already set up for leaf springs?

    Should I trade for this?

The cylinder aspect could be anything from plugs to wires to the coil, all are under 70 bucks from Autozone, Shocks are very easy to do yourself with most basic hand tools, you don't even need to jack the truck up. Right mirror can be a little tricky but i did one on my friends 97xlt in under...

    Should I trade for this?

a way you can check to make sure that 4wd is working, is with the truck in neutral, put it into 4-Lo, if you hear a very low clunk then you're in 4-lo and the lights just out, if it doesn't clunk then there's a problem.

1997 Mountaineer into 1959 Ford F100 Build Diary

It looks like you've made a huge amount of progress in a really short amount of time, have you thought about how you're going to rectify the wheelbase issue? are you going to take the back of the f100 frame and attach it to the IFS front? Justin

    Technical question

What light is flashing? the 4wd light? if sothere is a problem with the transfer case, more then likely a short in the shift motor wiring. This can happen if it's never cleaned. You'll have to replace the shift motor and see if that changes anything, it could also be a problem with the GEM but i...

    Blueka's "Pickle" Registry....

Yeah, In that case, you can't really do anything without cutting into the motor budget. You will have to hammer out the floor to fit the 4406 if you want to keep it electric. Maybe try to get the interior ready, remove the carpet reroute the wires, set up a storage system. most of those are...

    Blueka's "Pickle" Registry....

Do you know where you want to go with it? IE. streeter, offroad? because if you know where you want to go with that you can do little things while you wait for the motor to come along, and i agree there's no point in spending the money to make a v6 run just to pull it out when you get a v8, you...

    need your headlight opinions!!

In both their cases, the bulbs were the first to go, they were never color matched at 5000k, and the kid with the explorer had two ballasts go on him, but because they went after 10 days they were covered but he would have had to pay shipping both ways. which i feel is unnecessary. again...

    removing leaf spring

I would look for other options. Removing leaves will make the truck handle much different. You may want to look at new perches that are maybe lower or change your.shackles. messing with the springs like that just doesn't seem like a good idea for a daily driven truck unless your sure it will...

    need your headlight opinions!!

From personal experience in the last 6 months, DDM has gone down hill as far as quality and customer service. Two of my co-workers purchased both 9007h/l kits and the fog lights for thier vehicles, one being an explorer the other a mustang. When there were problems with the wiring harness, the...

    The Black Hole

You and Corkey are pioneering the IFS to new bounds. It looks great, when do the glass fenders get put on there? Are you still rocking no front bumper? would you had to have trimmed the bumper had it been there? (for some reason that doesn't make grammatical sense to me...)

    going v-8 but......

There is another member on this forum that swapped a v8 into a first gen, i don't remember there being a lot of problems fitting things, you will most likely have to make custom mounts but i don't think there are hard clearance options. As for the Wiring, you will need to make a custom wiring...

    New CAI...sorta

if it came from ebay.. it's probably not a great filter. like celly said, you're going to want to go with a good filter like Amsoil, K&N, or a lower end one that isn't terrible would be a spectre filter from Autozone.

    Corkey's Registry

That's pretty impressive. Was it because of binding or was it just because of the weight of the 35s?

    Sport97's sport

I'm pretty sure 2inch works the the same way as the one inch. But you'll have to fabricate bumper brackets. As you wont have enough adjustability in the stock brackets.
