    EGR Codes

I've been through this and have a procedure to test it to be sure what it is... The EGR system is pretty simple and here are the things it COULD be: Carbon buildup in EGR passages (VERY likely) Bad EGR Valve Bad EVR Solenoid BAD PFE/DPFE Sensor You can verify the EVR by putting a...

    EGR system check

Fixed my code 332 Check Engine Light! Was not O2 sensor, or any other component! Here is the rundown of how I diganosed it. 1) Warmed engine (ran at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes) and Check Engine light (code 332) came on as expected 2) Connected vacuum gauge bewteen EVR and EGR and reved engine...

    EGR system check

That's what I figured.. Since I've replaced the DPFE, EGR valve, etc. might as well go for the O2 sensor. Where is the one you are taking about located?

    EGR system check

Any way to test the O2 sensor? I would have thought it would throw a code if it was bad...

    EGR system check

This may not be any help, but at least your not alone! I am having the same problem! I've replaced the EGR valve (was getting a different code and THAT is gone at least) and also replace the DPFE sensor and vacuum lines. Still getting the darn check engine light, code 332. No symptoms, same as...

Fords new style valve cover gaskit ??

After having been through this 3 times, I have the following words of wisdom ( also as per Ford and 3 ford techs): New Ford Gasket - use NO sealant, or at the most in the 4 corners. DO NOT put it around the water jacket ports, etc as per the Haynes manual. Valve Covers: A small amount of...

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

I plan on taking my time. I'm upset that I have to do it again, but would rather it be something I can fix than anything worse. One bolt on a valve cover is stripped, so I plan on taking advantage of having the manifold out and putting in a helicoil to fix that little problem as well. I think...

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

I'll check for warp, and here is what I was told about the sealant in this case. It not only will not allow the gasket to seal, it will act as sort of a conduit for oil and actually help cause leaks. The AllData notes, the actual dealer info, says to put sealant in the four corners only. The...

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

Update, for any who are interested: I spoke to several Ford techs, and they all said the same thing. NO Sealant with the new style gasket! It's ok to put a little in the 4 corners, but that is the only place. Ford usually puts them in with no sealant at all! I guess the new gasket is that...

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

You are not wrong. I just cleaned it all off, drove it down the interstate and checked for oil. Pooled on bell housing! Did the contortionist thing and used a mirror to see behind the block. Yep - leaking at lower manifold! Question: Since the new gasket is different from what the Hayne's...

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

Well, $#$#$*!..... I used a Fel-Pro gasket and DID use sealant. Right where the Haynes manual said to.... Are you saying that using the sealant may have caused the problem? Wierd thing - It feels dry all around the valve covers and lower intake seam. It IS dripping oil out of the weep hole...

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

Maybe not so great.... Leaking OIL! Intake and Valve cover areas seem dry. Looks like maybe a rear seal, but oil also on drivers side of bell housing. Can't tell where from, but it doesn't LOOK like the intake. Runs fine, Temp fine, good power. Just seems to "blow" oil at 2000+ rpm. I'm...

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

Well, not much response out there, but after thinking it through I decided to go ahead with the gasket replacement. 10 hours later: replaced lower, fuel rail and upper gaskets, valve cover gaskets. Started right up, but leaked oil at higher RPM's. Re-checked and found a loose bolt in left valve...

    High milage explorers?

    URGENT! Oil and Coolant Leak!

Ok, so I'm coming home today and folks are telling me my engine is smoking! I get home & look under the hood... Oil on #5 plug wire, coolant droplets leaking under vehicle as well as oil. Does not appear that oil and coolant have "mixed" as in a blown head gasket. Engine running fine, no...

    #$%$ Check Engine Light - Code 332

I did not disconnect the battery, but I did clear the codes using the scanner. I might try the battery though, just in case...

    #$%$ Check Engine Light - Code 332

Here we go again.... I'm getting that darn Check Engine Light again... Codes show 332, no other symptoms... Here is what I have done: 1) Cleaned out all passages of carbon builduo 2) Replaced EGR Valve & Gasket 3) Replaced PFE (DPFE) Sensor & associated vacuum lines - two of them...

What causes an engine to burn oil? My 93 burns oil

I would also check the condition of the plugs. If the engine is indeed burning oil, the plugs would show it. If it is the now famous lower manifold leak, as I suspect my '94 is, you would not be burning oil OR seeing drops on the ground. It would just be 'dissapearing' or so I can gather....

    Lower Intake Leak?

I've been reading a lot about the infamous lower intake gasket and oil consumption. And I have a few questions. My X (94 Limited) is using about a quart every 1000 miles or so. Does not seem to be burning it, no leaks that would explain it, and no oil smell. #5 plug does seem to have oil on...

    Check Engine Light??

I bought a code reader at Wal-Mart for $20. Works very well. I was getting a check engine light and the codes pointed to the EGR valve (valve not closing). Codes 33 and 332. This could also be the pressure feedback sensor, but since it COULD be the valve and I had to take it off anyway to...
