    wheel bearings..Moog vs Ford OEM

Sorry to Creager and 410fortune for my posts..I apologize for my actions and stupid posts. The Bronco II you built looks and sounds like a cool machine. I just took you post and replies the wrong way..This my very last post and will be leaving this board. It's my fault for taking it this far...

    wheel bearings..Moog vs Ford OEM

A big sorry to your 410fortune and creager.... I made this post just to point out what I experienced when I changed the ball joints. I didn't think I was asking a question about the balljoints. I just was showing my experiences.. I got to admit thought Mr. 410fortune, that mod's you did to your...

    wheel bearings..Moog vs Ford OEM

Mr. 410Fortune, The Ford spicer balljoints don't look like the Moogs. They are completely different. So what that you have 280K on your Bronco deuce. I have 220K on my explorer. And who in the world would modify a Bronco II. I work at FORD and we hated working on those P.O.S. Bonco deuces...

    wheel bearings..Moog vs Ford OEM

Regarding wheel bearings....Timkens are the best.....BCA's are a close 2nd and all others suck..The the ones Napa sells are the worst.. My truck has 35" pro comp mud terrains on 15x12" Weld rims..So the ball joints and bearings take a lot of stress. I repack wheel bearings at 10,000 mile...

    wheel bearings..Moog vs Ford OEM

ball joints..Moog vs Ford OEM I changed my ball joints about 22,000 miles ago. On one side I installed some Moog upper and lower ball joints, and the other side Ford ball joints. My '91 explorer is modified with 35" tires on wide rims so I know the ball joints takes some stress. Well I...

Help! Ford transmission experts. Leaky 4r70 trnasmission into transfer case

There is no seal in back of the transmission (4R70W). I have rebuilt quite a few of these tranny's. It always has fluid there. The only way the oil could get into the transfer case is through the input seal on the transfer case. Maybe the seal that was installed was the incorrect part number.

    springs length

I don't know about 10'" coil springs, but, the skyjacker 8" kit for Rangers is the largest they come in that I know of. The ranger front kit should fit the Explorer front. All you have to do is figure out the back. For the back I would do superlift spring over axle swap and add some add a leafs...

help , front axel seal replacement

Are you talking about the seal that the driver front axle shaft slides into. To change the seal you need to first remove the brake disc rotor. Then you need to remove the spindle. If i remember right the '93 had a front abs sensor. So you need to remove the sensor first and then remove the...

    starting question

I once seen one with a loose bolt and it would not start some times. Also make sure the battery terminals are good.

    Cam Position Sensor

I think it is only available through your ford dealer. The cam sensor and "sycnronizer" base are what you will need. Make sure you mark the base and the "shutter" piece inside the syncronizer base. Almost like removing a "old syle" distributor. There is a special tool to line up "syncronizer...

    starting question

try and check the engine ground wire bolt on the right side of the engine block. THe bolt is a 13mm bolt that is located rearward of the engine mount bracket. Make sure the bolt is tight.

    95 4.0 heads on a 91?

Update I didn't take out the gray timing connector as it will stop the computer from advancing the timing. It is used to check base timing only. And taking it out will not let the timing remain at 10 degrees all the time. I have been running the explorer for 2 weeks now. It's running with...

    95 4.0 heads on a 91?

Are you talking about the "spout" connector that is used to check base timing. It is located next to the ignition module located in front of the battery. The spout prevents the computer from advancing the ignition spark. Regarding the driveshaft. I have a longer 4 door driveshaft that I will...

    95 4.0 heads on a 91?

I just did the swap. Installed a 95 cylinder head onto a 94 explorer. The 95's had a smaller chamber than the 91-94's as most of you know. I did the swap because I didn't want to purchase new 94 heads. Basically this is what happened. Bought a 94 explorer with blown head gaskets. Found out one...

    chrome side step bars

does anyone have a picture of a '91-'94 explorer with chrome nerf bars. Specifically one with a bodylift on it. I want to get one but all the ones I see are for without bodylifts. If I put those on the nerf bars will hang too low. Thats what I think though as I haven't ever seen one on a truck...

Difference in transmissions from 93-2001? (V8 vs. V6?)

Th '93 has a A4LD transmission which is a 4 spd trans. The 2000 has electronic shift trans called the 5R55E which is a 5 spd trans. The '98 explorer V8 has a electronic shift 4R70W which won't fit on the v6 engines. Different bellhousing bolt pattern.

    axle pivot bushings

Anyone ever changed axle pivot bushings on '91-'91 explorers? Do I need to use a press for the bushings or can I use something like a balljoint press? The same type press for changing the ball joints. Are they really that tough to get out and install? Thaks in advance.

    Tranny problem on 02 4 door V8

exteo is correct. There is a tsb regarding this issue on 2002 V8 explorers. Reprogram the PCM and relearn the trans shift strategy.

anyone replaced their 5r55e transmission themselves?

It's pretty easy to do since it's a 2wd. I change them all day at work using a lift and the thought of doing them on the ground on jack stands sucks. Air tools do help make the job easier.

    rear extended sway links

I need longer rear sway bar links for the rear of my generation 1 explorer. I have the 5.5 inch superlift SOA lift for the rear axle. The superlift sway bar links are a little to short because I installed a add-a-leaf to the rear spring pack. The links looks like it needs to be about an inch...

    2" coil spacers

i think there will be a problem.... With 2 inch spacers you will get alignment problems. You will have extreme positive camber as well as gain a lot of negative caster. Without lowering the axle pivots down to bring the camber back in specs you will be out of luck. I have the 1" spacer and...

    truck jus fixed, still problem

Is it a SOHC engine. IF it is there is a "Program" (similar to a recall) from ford which is related to the lower intake manifold seals. The leaking seals causes the engine to have a small vacuum leak and run lean. I know it has been talked about a lot on this forum. Call your ford dealer and...
