Weird intermittent drivers window, need to press 3X for it to work up/down

OK so I did more troubleshooting , and this is really weird. I have a 12V light tester, and I backprobed the terminal connections on the master contol for window up and down. Weird thing is it started working fine, even if I have the probe in only 1 of the terminals , example, when I stick the...

Weird intermittent drivers window, need to press 3X for it to work up/down

I have a 2015 XLT that recently developed a weird issue with the drivers window. It will only work up or down if I hit the switch 3 times. I tried a master window reset, and removing and taking apart the master switch and cleaning, but still does same thing. Any ideas ? It weird that it will...

    Time for tires

Anyone have good results with the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S? Thinking of either getting these, or the Premier's. My stock Hankook Optimos are just about done after 41,000 miles.

2015 XLT replacement tires for stock Hankook Optimo 426

After 41,000 miles, my stock Hankook Optimo 426 tires are getting close to end of life. I had no complaints with this tire, I thought it had a nice ride, but to my surprise, they don't make them anymore when I looked on Tirerack. So I am asking for any recommendations of good replacements . I...

The Borg Warner 4405 Transfer Case Rebuild Diary

Would you mind providing the parts or kits you had to get to repair your issue with the seized gear? I might try to tackle this myself to rebuild it.

The Borg Warner 4405 Transfer Case Rebuild Diary

I wonder if I’m better off getting a used TC at a junkyard.

The Borg Warner 4405 Transfer Case Rebuild Diary

I tried the test in neutral still no good. I can’t turn the front output flange. I even tried the test with the battery disconnected thinking somehow the clutch was energized while truck was off, but still can’t turn it. Any ideas?

The Borg Warner 4405 Transfer Case Rebuild Diary

The TC was working fine recently, use it on the beach Would broken sensors cause the 4wd to always be engaged though? No blinking lights on dash.

The Borg Warner 4405 Transfer Case Rebuild Diary

Thanks, I will try the test in neutral when I get home. After this problem happened, I did change the fluid in an attempt to hopefully fix it, it did look black, but I did not see any metal parts. The 2 sensors in the TC are pretty much frozen in there even after removing the bolt. I tried to...

The Borg Warner 4405 Transfer Case Rebuild Diary

I just developed a problem with my 99 XLT. It seems that the TC is stuck in 4wd all the time. The truck binds up bad when trying to make a turn I disconnected the shift motor, tested, and that is working fine. I can also put the truck in 4Lo fine. I disconnected front driveshaft, and now the...

Help, transfer case locked up in 4wd

Yes I did and it is in 4 high but from what I read that is the normal position correct? The only other two positions is 4 low and neutral. From what I read , 4hi only gets engaged through the electromagnetic sensors when slippage is detected , or by permanently putting it into 4 high on...

Help, transfer case locked up in 4wd

I did a test. I had my son put the truck in neutral with truck off, and he let truck slowly roll while I observed the front output shaft of the TC, and it was still turning, (with front driveshaft removed) so I’m guessing that rules out the electronic clutch since it’s not energized. It looks...

Help, transfer case locked up in 4wd

Hi all, original owner of 1999 XLT SOHC, 190K miles, Yesterday all of a sudden, the truck does not want to move when making turns. My first thought was the transfer case is locked up. Disconnected electrical connections to the TC motor , but still locked up. I then removed the front...

Parking brake pedal not working right, cables good

I found the issue, it was a rear left broken cable, but I did not see it, it broke inside the rubber housing . I ordered all new cables from Rock Auto.

Parking brake pedal not working right, cables good

Ok , we’ll i got a new OEM pedal assembly, went to install it, same issue. So it’s not the pedal, it has something to do with the length of the other cables changed, it’s like a foot extra slack someplace. The middle cable looks fine, and the 2 rear cables look fine, I don’t think these cables...

Parking brake pedal not working right, cables good

Hello, the other day I went to use my emergency brake, and the pedal went all the way to the floor with no resistance . The first thing that came to my mind was that the cable broke, but I checked , and all cables were fine, so this leads me to believe the pedal assembly broke, but I don’t know...

Replaced rear wheel bearing, 2015 XLT w/ 21K miles

It was covered under warranty. But I am curious how much it would have been without warranty. The advisor said they used a stethoscope to isolate the noise.

Replaced rear wheel bearing, 2015 XLT w/ 21K miles

UPDATE: Dealer found both rear bearings bad. Replaced them, all is good now. I'm just curious now how long it will be before the front ones go. I have a feeling they must have had a bad batch at the assembly plant when they built my truck. From what I understand the front and rear hub bearing...

Replaced rear wheel bearing, 2015 XLT w/ 21K miles

Thanks. I meant to say I put 2 jack STANDS in the front, and 2 jacks in the back. Putting those jack stands under those lifting points (pinch points) in the front made me a little nervous.as they do not look like all that supportive. I would have rather placed them under something beefier like...

Replaced rear wheel bearing, 2015 XLT w/ 21K miles

UPDATE: Well I got ambitious and decided to put my Explorer off all 4's and run it in gear. I used 2 jacks in the back , and 2 jacks in the rear. I made sure there was a clear path in the front in case if the car hit the floor. I first was in the drivers seat,a and my son stood outside to hear...

Replaced rear wheel bearing, 2015 XLT w/ 21K miles

I searched and googled everywhere, and got no hits of this problem, so I hope the dealer does find something. Otherwise if they cant, I might raise the car on all 4's and run it in gear to try and find the problem.

Replaced rear wheel bearing, 2015 XLT w/ 21K miles

I did try the side to side test on the road, made no noticeable difference in the sound. Pretty stumped right now.

Replaced rear wheel bearing, 2015 XLT w/ 21K miles

I did search, and I did not get too many results back for "rear diff noise" or "rear axle noise". Now I'm afraid if I take it into the dealer, they are going to tell me they could not find anything. I've driven cars with bad bearings before, and this definately sounds like a bad bearing. I just...
