So, the tranny in my Exploder went out recently so I decided to dive in and start doing some mods. First on the list was a new front bumper. I opted to start with the Poison Spyder Comp Stinger built for the Jeep TJ. It wasn't an exact match (as you can see in the pictures below) so some brackets were fabbed up and now it is rock solid.

Was that cut with a water jet?

Since I just moved to my new place once I get my welder set up I am going to finish weld most of the joints for insurance but still leave it able to be removed. I'm also going to box it in for a more finished look and again more insurance. You can never be too sure. ;)

The stinger is laser cut from 3/16" steel but was purchased from PoisonSpyder.com already welded and comes bare metal.

Cool, I haven't seen much laser cutting. She look's sweet as mate:thumbsup:

Curious why you're moddin when the tranny went? Or did you already fix that?

Too be completely honest I have been wanting to for a while and the transmission failing was all the justification my fiance needed to be ok with me really getting crazy with it.

The plan is to one day swap the entire power train for something v-8 ish. My current thoughts are a 3v 4.6 v8, but that could very possibly change by time i actually save up the $$ to do that.

Here is what I've gotten done so far. I'd like to be able to finish it up and have it painted this weekend.

awesome job on finishing that thing. I have been wondering if this exact bumper would fit on my 93. Dunno how missed this thread!

what's the distance between your frame horns? i wonder if our frames are the same dimensions?

Are you thinking about adding some support tube going to the hoop?

I will grab some dimensions for you tonight when I get off work.

I'm not planning on supporting the hoop at this moment. I have brackets on the back side of the bumper that tie into these points where the factory bumper tied into. That's the plan right now. It's really sturdy but we will see how things go.

Alright here it is. Fully welded and painted.

The dimension of the frame rail is roughly 31-3/8" outside to outside.

I had to fabricate 2-1" spacers to make the jeep portion of the bumper fit the frame.

I included a picture of the front grill that I painted to match the bumper also.

Here is an updated picture with the winch installed and painted. The stinger is also removable in case the cops give me any grief.
