Hi folks.
Seems like Christmas Lights started early on my 2018 Platinum (3.5L).
It all started with Error Message "Service Advance Trac". This happened one day
the temperature was below 0 (centigrades). It disappeared on the next startup.
But a few days later pretty much all other Error...
My check engine light is on and after going to Autozone to use their scanner, I saw that the main code was P0174.
I've changed the air filter, changed the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, and change the fuel filter. We reset/unplug the battery each time to turn off the light, but still...
I bought a 2015 Ford Explorer Sport/police interceptor in April. The engine light came on after driving it off the lot . Turns out there was a misfire. The dealership I bought it from ended up swapping out the engine for a “new” one.
i got it back from them and the engine light came on again...
The check engine light comes on after a few minutes of driving. Turning the key off, then starting turns off the CEL for a few minutes. The engine revs smoothly up to 4100 rpm then stumbles there, then smoothes out above that toward red line.
KOEO Codes: 111, 214, 542...
As stated in a previous post, I have multiple codes on my 2003 Ford Explorer Centennial Edition, 4.6L. After testing my alternator I figured most of them were due to it being weak. After removing countless alternators at the junkyard and testing them outside of the vehicle, I finally found one...
So my Black Explorer with the V8 keeps throwing the code P0118. The temperature sensor works as the dash gauge does move with the engine heating up. But the computer keeps saying the temperature is -40 when I plug in my OBD scanner. This issue causes the truck to idle at 2000 RPM randomly, and...
I have a 1997 Ford Aerostar with the 3.0L Vulcan engine, 86,000 miles. My check engine light is on, and it has the following error codes:
P0340 - CMP sensor circuit fault
P0340-C CMP sensor circuit malfunction
I have an obd 2 cable, and I use obd 2 software called FORScan, so I can reset the...
When I started my Explorer this afternoon(4.0 OHV with 300k) I saw the dreaded Check Engine light. The light came on about a year ago but went off before I could check the engine. I popped the hood and used a paper clip to check the codes, 633(Vehicle must be in 2x4 high or 4x4 high. My gem...
My 99 explorer 5.0 has CEL P0102 low voltage MAF sensor. I have replaced the sensor, the connector, throttle body sensor, IAC valve, gaskets and checked for vacumm leak although there seems to be a leak i can't find after the MAF sensor. What else can be causing this code? I can't get it smogged...
All right, so a long while ago my timing chain guides decided it was time to stop existing. My explorer still rattles down the road if I need to go somewhere, and very soon I'll be getting it fixed, so I have a few questions.
One, where can I find the reinforced metal timing chain guides? I'd...
My Check Engine Light sometimes comes on, what is the recommended way to figure out what is wrong? Being a 95 it does not have an obd2 port.
I sometimes experience a low idle, it may stall if I can't get it moving soon enough after starting. Also, it is worth noting that it has not had its...
Has anybody else had this problem?
I have an 06 V6 Explorer with 135k miles. The check engine light keeps coming on. We have so far replaced the EGR valve, clean out the hose that feeds it, replaced the pigtail wiring that supplies the mass air sensor and the sensor itself. I have been to...
I have a 2000 Sport, 126,000 miles. The check fuel cap light came on, then the check engine light. The first facility replaced the fuel cap but didn't tell me the code or diagnose it. I don't think they knew what to do other than reset the light. It was fixed on a Friday and both lights were...
Hi all,
2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer - about 116,000 miles on it. Honestly, it has treated me great - and I have also treated it great in return. Always up on the scheduled maintenance, and I've probably done more things to it that are not "needed" (depending on who you talk to) than most -...
All-
I recently bought a 2014 certified Explorer XLT with factory tow package at the local dealer. Everytime I tow our boat (the whole reason for buying it), the check engine light blinks when getting onto the expressway, we lose power and the air conditioning stops (only happens when towing)...
My Check Engine Light came on my 2011 Explorer and after having codes run, it appears it is my crankshaft position sensor. My engine has misfired and pistons 1 & 3 are out.
I replaced all 6 spark plugs and that did not do the trick so I picked up a crankshaft position sensor yesterday.
MY...
Hey!
I have a nicely sized thread going over here about the problems my truck is having.. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=430512
as a sub-thread, I need someone who can read codes to give me a hand.
I just want to verify that the KOEO codes I believe to be getting are...
I have a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac and I have a trouble code that's causing my check engine light to come on. I work at Autozone so i got it checked out and it was 2 different codes which are P0455 and P1450. Well both of them had the probable causing being the Canister/Purge Vent Valve...
Ok, so I have a problem - there must be a solution, but I cannot see it.
The check engine light comes on, then goes off, every three seconds. When it's off, the engine runs fine, when it's on, the RPMs cut in half, it misses, and it has no power / won't go into top gear. It's a 1993 Sport with...
I have installed an aftermarket Spectre Air Intake on my 07 ST 4.0. I've gotten the check engine light and am wondering what I can do to remove it. Here's what I have. I bought the cone, tube, and everything else separately. The Spectre intake tube wasn't really designed for the ST so I had to...
Hi all,
I searched the forums but haven't found a problem described quite like what I have. I have a '94 XLT, all stock, 90k miles (and original owner!).
It starts up nice, and drives and sounds fine for a couple miles, while cold. Then, usually after I've pushed it for a bit (like...
Hey guys, just registered so I could post this but I've been a a long time lurker. So, on the way back from a road trip my check engine light came on. I got the code from AutoZone and it was the P0732 "gear 2 incorrect ratio." This is on a 2004 Explorer Sport 4.0L 2WD. Now, I've read up on the...
Had two diagnostics, 1st said PCM O2 side no voltage coming out. took to dealer with replacement PCM, said not computer; still running on original. 2nd dealer diag said truck old, timing belt is my ping kinda noise, also said compression checked twice cyl 2 and 4 gave low then normal value. One...
Hi all, new to the forums here.
I have owned my 1995 Ford Explorer since 2008 and I'd like to keep it, yet I'm having some problems that need serious attention and mechanics can't seem to figure out what it is. Perhaps you can!
It has 200k+ miles (Odometer stopped working at 137k before I...
Hi all,
Just bought a 1994 Explorer 4x4, with only 70,000 original miles. However, it seems like the stuff that is wrong with it might indicate that the sell shaved off 100,000.
I have some problems, such as the CEL come on and stays on, about 5 seconds after is goes out.
Second thing is...
Hi all,
(Pls forgive me if this is answered in another thread. I wasn't able to locate anything with a search.)
I have a 2000 XLT 4.0 SOHC, 209,000 km. I've had it for eight years and since 60,000km. It's always idled pretty rough, with a vibration that seems to come and go. Last winter in a...
My check engine light on my 2000 Explorer (249,000 miles) is on and the code reads #6 cylinder misfire. when I first got this I replaced my plugs and wires. When it came on again I replaced my coil. I am getting good spark from the coil into that wire, but the light is on again and it does...
I am planning on installing a Lovato 5th generation LPG system on my 2010 Ford Explorer 4x4 XLT 4.0L. Is the check engine light going to stay on? Will installing this system affect the motor life span? Any good reasons not to do this? Any good reasons to go ahead and do this? Cheers!
I own a 93 Mazda Navajo, 4x4 (explore) and it keeps running a little rough when giving her enough gas to keep speed. The check engine light will come on when this happens then go off. I know I need a new muffler asap there is a huge hole in it. Well its not even a hole the whole bottom of the...

So, I haven't posted in this forum just yet. Thought I would take the time and offer up a quick fix to several annoying symptoms.
I bought a 94 XLT in November 2012. The truck ran well, but pinged real hard as is common in this vehicle. Symptoms began when I moved from the Bay Area to...
Still trying to get my 1992 Ford Explorer 4.0L 4dr Auto 4WD VIN X to run properly.
Here's the current situation:
It starts fine, runs about 30 seconds, then chugs, loses power, and Check Engine Light comes on.
What we've discovered: It is running on only 2 cylinders now. When I pull...
1992 Ford Explorer XLT 4wd 4.0L (California vehicle) runs good for about 15 minutes, then suddenly starts 'chugging,' loses power, and check engine light comes on. After sitting overnight, it will again run good for about 15 minutes, then repeats the problem.
This problem began AFTER smog...
I have a 2006 4.6L Explorer. My check engine light came on. I purchased a OBD reader and found that the code was a P0420. I reset the code. I read in the owners manual to see how to get the vehicle emissions ready for emissions testing. I ran the engine through the profile but the OBD still...
Hello, it's great to have a resource like this Ford Explorer Community. Thank you for your insights and help on this problem. I'm avoiding going to a Ford Dealer and what to, if possible, fix this myself. Any help would be much appreciated.
If Fuse #13 (under the hood) blows and that fuse...
Okay, so I posted in this forum a few days ago about my fuel pump not working. Well ever since I tapped the gas tank a few days ago, it has ran like a champ. No problems starting it! I have driven about 200 miles since.
I pulled the check engine codes, doing the paperclip method and got...
2000 Explorer XLT 4.0 liter OHC (I think) Has a check engine light constantly on not blinking and had a rough Idle.
The #4 piston was misfiring so I changed spark plug and wire and the idle is dramatically better. Probably need to change rest of plugs and wires which will help the idle even...
Hello,
I have a 2006 Explorer, and recently my check engine light turned on all of a sudden, and I took it to be checked out and found out that it six errors, P0135 and P0141, P0155 and P0161 (O2 sensors, Heat circuit) and P0403 (EGR) and P0443 (EVAP), the car is not mechanically failing...
I have a 1995 Ford Explorer Expedition. Check Engine light has been coming on for years, and the bulb finally burned out about a year ago! Well I replaced the bulb today and finally use the wire trick to get my codes. Here is what I got the first time,
(KOEO) 111 327 631 327 631 1 327 327...
