SOHC 97. Fuel pressure regulator is losing vacuum from 10hg to 2.5hg in 7 minutes.
Is that normal ?
What are specs for fuel pressure? My one runs with 33psi only when idle.
Truck runs lean. I am checking everything and put a vacuum pump on the fuel pressure regulator to check if it holds vacuum.
It goes from 15 hg to 9,5 hg in 60 seconds!
Is that normal?
There is no fuel in the vacuum hose...
Been trying to figure this out for a few weeks now, being busy with a baby and all is kind of hard to get this done, pulled the valve covers to check the timing chains. They Seem Ok, One Chain in the rear has a small amount of slack on one side, the other (the side with the tensioner) will not...
I have been having hard starts when the engine is warm and recently the truck stalled and wouldn't restart. It was towed back to my house (thanks Geico) and I got a chance to hook up a fuel pressure guage. The prime before starting yielded 20psi and when running i got just under 30. When the FPR...
I have a 98 explorer xlt 4.0 sohc vin E. the fuel pressure regulator is shot and the part has long been discontinued. It has the steel braided hose crimped to the regulator. I am wondering if anyone has any success of finding a crossover p/n that would work. Or my second thought would be to...
Hello there ! I have read some threads in here from time to time for tips on simple repairs & sensor replacements.
I currently have the pleasure of replacing my FPR - fuel pressure regulator on my '99 Explorer V8 5.0
Yes, I know this part has been disco'd by Ford, but what's the...
So I have had a problem with this truck since i bought it.
I was getting lean codes, I tried the mass air flow sensor..didnt fix it. I checked for vacuum leaks none.
I brought it to a buddy of mines garage and they did a fuel pressure check.
When you turn the key it does have pressure...
Hi all, I'm quite new here, so I apologize if I'm not posting on the right place. That begin said, I hope somebody can help me out.
The truck is an explorer 98, V6, vin X.
I've had this codes since FOREVER, but I finally want to get them fixed. When it comes to drive, the truck is just...
1992 Ford Explorer
If cold, my car takes me numerous times to start it up. it cranks but its seems like its not getting the fuel. When I do get it started its idles roughly and really struggles to stay running. After it warms up it runs decent but not nearly as smooth as it used to. It has a...
Read a bunch of threads, and think I have this problem licked.
The car has 230K on it and every once in a while it wouldn't start hot. I live in Vegas, so I attributed it to vapor lock. It always started back up in a half hour or so. When running, it was perfect.
The other day it got cold...
Hello Ford Geeks,
I'm new to this forum, so I'm introducing myself, as requested by the forum. I'm not a sporty, off-road motorist, nor Henry Ford throwback by any means-I prefer bicycling to driving on most commutes, and I wanted to find a Toyota Previa-AWD, before settling for the...
94 explorer with stock 4.0 liter runs great when cold, after it warms up a bit it acts like it's out of gas when I push the accelerator down.
Would the fuel pressure regulator be a likely suspect? I've replaced the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump, filter etc... this vehicle sat for 5 years...
Hey everyone,
My engine will not start and I need help.
It is a 2001 XLT, 4.0 V6 SOHC, A/T, 2WD
The engine will not start apparently due to excess gas [massive “flooding”]
So far I have found the following:
It cranks strong, so battery, starter & ignition all work well.
It has...
:scratch:Could you good folks enlighten me on all the things that might cause a fuel pump to not pump on a 1993 Explorer? Any diagrams or specs would be great also. Is there a downloadable oem repair manual available? If this is covered in another thread i'd be grateful for any & all links.
I...
Hey everyone,
I just joined this site to hopefully find some help. I recently bought a 1994 explorer sport. I am currently encountering 2 separate problems.
1. Bad Gas Mileage
The metal lines coming out of the fuel pump were corroded and leaking, so I had dropped the tank and replaced...
i have a 95 explorer that doesnt start, when i turn the key on the fuel pump runs and doesnt stop i have changed the fuel pressure regulator and its still does the same thing. i have fuel at the rail and when i spray starting fluid in it will start and then stop i have spark and fuel but still...
I'm fixing up 1991 ford explorer. The fuel filter was so bad it would not stay running, I replaced it. Now its very hard starting. When cold & starting you have to turn key & pump the gas pedal continously 15-45 sec. before it starts. Like it doesn't hold pressure in the fuel line. Aslo when it...
I love cars... but I hate working on them.
It's not even so much that I don't like working on them it's that I don't know what I'm doing and I'm clumsy and oafy and just not good at working in tight spots.
That being said... I work for a living and cant' afford to always send my truck to...
I have read many blogs on this subject and maybe someone here can help. I have a 2000 explorer with a 4.0 SOHC engine with 174000 miles on it. In the last year I have had a new computer, new MAF, new O2 Sensors, new head gaskets and the idle control replaced. (Cannot remember the name). I...
Hey all,
I was out wheeling at night and all was good. Once we got back on the pavement I tried pushing on the gas to accelerate up to speed (55mph) and it wouldn't do it. I pushed harder on the gas, and the engine's RPMs didn't respond at all. Didn't notice ANY problems on the "trails", but as...
