Buddy of mine has an '00 SR5 v6. So it seems like according to him, engine is "loud, hesitating, and gets worse under load." It does it regardless of temperature. No CEL

Because it has nothing to do with temp, I'm ruling out a bad o2 as being the cause.
I will take a look at LTFT and STFT
I will pull the plugs, and see if they tell a story. While in there, Ill also check coil is functioning properly.
If those all check out good, I guess Ill chase down some sensors, clean them, etc.
Then after al lthat, check fuel pressure.

After that, bang my head on the wall... and rent a compression tester

I don't have the truck with me, so I cant diagnose anything for a few weeks, but just doing an idiot check as to if my logic is even sound! What puzzles me a bit is no code, yet it sounds like its pretty significant. Or Toyota is dumb.

Got it- will do!

3.0... 3.slow... I just remember rats nest of vac lines doing head gasket hahahahha

Someday I wanna buy the '00 off him and make it a daily/softroader, since its a 2wd... the 2runner!

Right now its his spare car, so hes in no hurry to fix it.

Maybe his butt dyno is hearing/feeling a broken/locked fan clutch? Toyotas are really loud for some reason.

I dont think so... I got a video and it almost seems like its running with a flooded carb... for lack of better explanation. But thats only a video hahaha.

So if it’s a problem in the ignition plugs wires the pcm won’t know
If I remember right they also have an air sensor that can be cleaned
What you describe sounds like it simply has a misfire

Lots of good things to check while she’s at your shop
