I am in the process of changing the tranny filter/fluid on a 00 Explorer Sport. My Haynes manual speaks of removing cat conv heat shield clips that are attached to the pan, however, there was nothing clipped to the tranny pan at all. However, upong removnig the bolts and draining the pan, I found that I am unable to remove the pan due to the cat conv heat shield/exhaust pipe in the way.
What do I need to remove to get the pan out? I have tried pulling, rotating, and twisting any way I can think of, and keep ending up 1/8" short of getting it out. For those that have done this, any help??? I don't want to damage anything inside the tranny...
Thanks.
