01 STrunner's Sport Trac

Well it's official, I'm now a member of the SAS Trac club! I got the truck back down to SC this past weekend. It drives great and can do a steady 75 mph but is much more comfortable at 65mph. The gearing helped to adjust my speedo closer to correct. Its now showing 4mph faster but I will adjust that using the ScanGauge. I still have to climb under and check out the transmission crossmember and get dimensions for a front driveshaft. That's probably going to be the last thing for a while as work and crew is getting crazy, taking all of my time. If you have questions about any of the setup ask away. Enough talk, here's some pics.

Thanks Brent.

So I took the track bar completely off. Then I disconnected the sway bar and drove around the block and played in the grass a little. It rides so smooth but there is no way this thing is going on the road without a sway bar. The body lift will come out in a couple weeks probably and I'll just stick to 35s. Didnt get any pics as it started raining.

Still working on a transmission X-member so currently a 2wd but I've played around with the flex the new D44 gets me.

Great flex man, weld the rear or lock it and you can go plenty of places even in 2wd.

Thanks! The plan is to have it locked front and rear by the end of the summer.

hey man truck looks great! i started following your registry when you first made it, and really ive never been a big fan of the st's until i saw yours with a bit of lift and new tires. they have grown on me quite a bit since then. but i love the direction your taking it, hope you have some fun with it. do you have the cross member worked out yet?

That's awesome to hear! I got the design and then continued looking at some others and may go a different direction with the design which means starting all over again. I've been really busy with classes this summer so haven;t really been able to put time into it. I'll probably end up installing the diff covers and lockers before that since my friend that's going to help me also is doing covers and axle sleeves in his TJ and we can get all 4 axles knocked out in a weekend and brainstorm what would work for the crossmember.

Oh and I guess I haven't mentioned it on this thread. I'm still bouncing between taking the BL out or leaving it in. The main thing that's making me want to keep it is that the tires flex all the way to the top of the wheel wells with both axles being SOA. I think I'll wait to go on a couple trips to make a decision.

What issues are you having with the crossmember just figuring out how to fit one in? Which diff covers are you getting btw? and what makes you want to take the bl off. too high?

The crossmember is tricky because of my front driveshaft angle. Also I've been shown a couple other design ideas and so I have to figure out which one I want and then it's a matter of getting the metal ad the time to actually make it.

I got covers from solid axle and put up a picture in the show off your ST thread.

The BL just makes the truck so tall. It makes it easy to work on things and its extra room if I ever decide to do an engine swap.

What rims are those on the 1st page painted black?

Nah I'm actually pretty happy with the stock t-case

do you have a picture of how you mounted the cb antenna ? I like your set up and I'm thinking of putting mine on the taillight as well

Thanks I really like the setup and how it's out of the way. I have a few pictures. I can't remember if I posted it in a thread I made, one Lono made, or one Offtrac made. That doesn't really narrow it down but I remember specifically talking between all 3 of us. I'll try to throw some up on this thread soon if you can't find them.

For the record, I broke the antenna out of my roof mounted Lil Will and lost the set screw. I think I'll change up to your setup.
