I thought it was the sunroof but its not. When I pulled the carpet on the floor everything was soaked. When I had a hose on the windshield I could see a single stream of water coming down the firewall. But there is some sound insulation that covers the area making it impossible to see where it is coming from. I pulled the cowl covers and the wiper motor assembly. When I put the hose in there the water still leaks inside. The drain is clear for the cowl. Now here is my question in the cowl area there is a "panel" with a bolt and a stud. I removed the bolt but it would not come off. My thoughts were to run a bead of sealant around this panel as I feel this is the only place for it to be entering the car. Thoughts?

I thought I would update this. I found a 1" section of seam sealer that was missing above the gas pedal. The water I sealed it will silicone inside and out. Now the damn sunroof is leaking. The drains are open 100% but the water is leaking from the frame of the sunroof.

If your driver side carpet still gets wet, check the thread link below and look at post #29 with the photos I took. Water can also work it's way into the vehicle and run down the inside firewall (behind and above the foot pedals) when the inner cowl/fender drains get plugged with leaves and debris as the pics will show.

I originally cleaned under the cowl and it was clogged as well but it didn't fix the leak. The drivers side water was from just above the gas pedal where the cable comes in the firewall. The factory missed the seam sealer. I hopefully fixed the sunroof this am. The corners of the tray that collect the water are plastic and the sides are aluminum. At the joint of the 2 pieces they used a butyl rubber sealant and it was failing. I went to the store and got a tube of 3m windshield urethane. I was able to clean out the old and reseal it in the car. But would be easier if it was out.

The area I am talking about can't be reached thru the windshield cowl by hand (kind of like a no-mans land down in there), you have to separate the inner fender well from the fender and go thru there to reach it. There is a round, drain hole up inside the inner fender that gets plugged up with twigs. dirt, leaves and general crap. Yeah, I checked the seal around the E-brake cable where it comes thru the firewall and mine looked good and dry around it. So far for me, no leaks around the moon roof.

Ya I pulled the inner fender out and cleaned that area out as well. By under the cowl thats the area I was referring too.

Yeah, I knew what area you were talking about all along when you previously said "under the cowl". I removed my windshield cowl as well and there was nothing to see there, no leaves or debris, nor could I get my hand down into the side fender area from under the cowl. Water from the garden hose would drain thru that area but no room for my hand. I couldn't clean it out from above. I had to pull the inner fender shield to unclog that drain hole in my pics from my other post.
