'02 Explorer - 4WD Problem

I have a 2002 4WD Explorer XLT. Recently, the 4HI and 4Low lights started blinking 3 times at start up and every 10 minutes or so. It doesn't appear that I could get it into 4wd. Based on feedback I disconnected the battery to reset the codes. I am now able to put it in 4HI and the lights have not starting flashing as of yet, but...
I do encounter a awful clunking sound in 4HI while turning. Could this be the infamous 4X4 module behind/under the glove box that is bad. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks

i recantly just fixed my 4wd are you sure the 4wd is engaging because usaly if you dont turn your 4wd on for a few minutes every now and again it will get stuck and the engaging motor will try and engage but it wont. it can be yes the fuse proablem or maybe you should take a look under the truck in the front and see if the boots are craked or rusted.
