02 Ford Explorer
I Recently purchased an 02 Ford Explorer with a seized motor (4.0 E VIN) I swapped out the motor with an 03 Ford Ranger 4.0 E VIN. I used the intake, CrankPS, fuel injectors, fuel rail, exhaust manifolds, and pretty much everything from the Explorer. When I completed the installation I started the engine twice and it ran. It had a vibration to it. I assumed that it was due to the low level of transmission fluid . I was unable to remove the fill plug on the tranny (rusted in) to add fluid. I had to pull the torque convertor with the motor so its probably like a gallon down. So I went to the parts store to see if I could buy a plug. when I returned I attempted to start it again ( I was going to recharge the AC) and it cranks over I have spark but no start. The previous owner had sucked water into the intake could this be the mass airflow sensor? I scanned it and got no codes. Where do I start my trouble shooting?

you would still have spark if the mass air flow sensor was bad,

no spark is either, bad crank sensor, wire harness not plugged into coil pack enough, check pins in harness, bad coil. or fuse for accessory

do you have parts from the donar engine to swap out?

Yes I still have all the parts that were originally on the Ranger engine. I also have spark. I don't know if its adequate but there is spark. I still have the Ranger plugs in it. Does the Explorer have a different plug or gap. I will probably replace the plugs and possibly coil before I attempt to restart it. Just to rule out possibly fouled plugs or bad coil. Would a defective MAFs prevent the vehicle from starting? How about the EGR? This intake was full of water. I dried it out very well before I reinstalled it but don't know what kind of damage this caused to the electronics. I didn't let it run long enough for the computer to reset it self and probably not long enough to throw a code either. I could also smell gas and wouldn't rule out a twisted O ring on the fuel rail or something. Thank You for your help!

the truck should start with bad senors, totaly unplug the mass air flow sensor and try to start. are you sure the firing order is correct? try spraying starting fluid in the intake and see if it trys to run,
