I have had a problem with my 02 Mountaineer shifting at high RPM and shifting in and out of 3,4 like it cant decide what gear it wants. well today after reading the thread on Solenoid block replacement I decided to drop the pan and just take a look, it needed a filter change anyway. so after removing the solenoid i found that the screen between the valve body and the solenoids was completely clogged on the inlet on 3 and 4 and all were dirty. after cleaning it out with brake clean...........
