2002 Explorer Sport Trac
I bought a used '02 Sport Trac a few months ago and I like it just fine. I bought it in order to transport my power wheel chair.

I am disabled and definitely need the side step to get in and out. The original ones are rusting out. Is there a straight bolt on aftermarket replacement?

Thanks.

you can get similar to factory "nerf" bars from all the major companies like westin, hunter, aries, etc. any truck accessory shop can hook you up on average is 200-250 for steps. i personally have boards instead that are flat topped and 5" of platform to stand on.

anything marked to fit the 01-05 ford explorer sport trac should be bolt on. this is 2 brackets per side two boards or bars and all hardware to install the brackets to the body

this is the best shot i have of them

Nice looking ride. It's the same as mine, except for the blackout lower trim.

I may go for steps rather than nerfs.

thanks for the compliments, honestly its very handy having the wider boards the wife in high heels had a rough time on the nerf bars with a 2.5"-3" pad. the 4.5"-5" board is easier on her and me getting in and out is not an issue yes the extra width i notice it against my calf but it is not a hinderance in in/out moves

EDIT: http://www.truckgeardirect.com/?ITEMID=BF-8105C this is where i got mine at and at $120 the price is right they also have an aluminum colored with black rubber strips.

How was installation? Did they use the original ST hardware? Are they fairly stiff or do they flex?

Thanks!

I have the same side steps. Love them. There super light. They mount in the same location as the stock ones. And there adjustable when you mount them on how low they go and how far they can stick out. I wil get a pic up soon too

as dan said they are adjustable and use the forward and rear factory mount points on the body. the link i posted is the brackets and boards as a kit hardware is included. and no they are not flimsy at all i have had my 170lbs and my brothers 225 lbs on it and they dont budge they are said to be rated up to 500Lbs

I want one of there bull bars now

Damn, I wish mine was black.

I just got a set of those running boards on my 01 ST today. they are definitely bolt-ons and have about 3/4 inch adjustability in-out and up-down. if your ST is older, or you live in the rust belt, the j-clips will be extremely hard to remove. in fact, the rocker flange had rusted through on a few so I was unable to use all of the recommended fasteners. also, the j-clips that came with the kit are not very sturdy; they only have 3 or 4 threads so they strip out really easily. don't torque then too much! I am going to try and get 2 more brackets to mount in the center oem position to beef it up some. I will post a pic tomorrow. I think it turned out pretty good. can't beat the price.
