so i just passed 119K on my X and im starting to get a little play in all 4 wheel bearings, im wondering what is involved in the procurment of the items to do them. I have tools and the know how + time to do the mechanical part myself. But i understand you need to get a new knuckle, spindle and bearing all at the same time? and then get them pressed togeather? can some one clear this up for me? maybe some links to good quality parts?

Thanks a bunch guys.

I'm assuming you have a 4X4 since you're in AK. For the front bearings you need only the bearing and hub assembly which comes with the sensor wire. Got one with the sensors. You need to get the 3 PITA bolts if wasn't included with the bearings, and the axle nut. For the rear you can get either just the bearing and snap ring or the hub, bearing and snap ring. Personally, I get the complete set. Get the hub tool to help with the separation of the spindle and front hub, makes job easier. New axle nut for front also. Axle nuts not that expensive, my life is worth more than a couple of nuts.

There's a couple of good post here on the procedure. Don't use pickle fork to separate the control arm to knuckle. Spread the pinch points and then use mini sledge hammer and block of wood to knock the control arm upwards to free from knuckle.

Yes, im 4x4.

im going to go for the full set and replace as many bolts as i can get my hands on, ive heard those PITA bolts are easier to cut than to remove. Are certain brands better than others? dealer have the axel nuts?

To be honest, the bolts on our '02 were very (re)usable. I thought I'd be replacing them too.

bolts are fairly cheep, and i have a dedicated bolts shop less than a mile from my house, even if they look reusable, i may as well pick up new hi grade bolts. an extra 20-30 bucks on this project wont bother me to much.

Axle nuts are one time use. . .about $9 at the stealership, something special about the threads. The other bolts usually have loctight on them, i don't see why not re-use them with more loctite. Another thing to look for are the Front hubs that come with bolts and abs sensor already. Bought them on fleabay for $110 each, bolts and abs sensor inc. I'm under the impression (just a wild guess) that those that come with the bolts are OEM dealer part anyways, old surplus stock. I have about 1yr on mine, with 20k on them, cheap made in china kind so far so good. on a side not those abs sensors are about $65. . .might as well have a spare handy, from experience.
