03 edge straight axle??

I have a 03 dege 4x4 independent front suspensino and was wondering if any one can give me some info on swapping out the independent suspension with a straight axle, i got 60000 miles on my truck and nothing done to the suspension and im already replacing parts like cv joints and front shafts. need to get rid of the junk and beef it up a little before i do anything major, any info at all will help thanks

This is the registy forum, where members start threads discussing the swap they have planned or are in the process of doing. Not to ask questions.

You need to do research, more research, then some more research. Use the search feature and type in "solid axle swap", or just look at all the threads in this forum. Go to pirate4x4.com and search there too. Plenty of great information on both sites. Welcome to the site.

The 03 Edge is similar to many other trucks people have performed solid axle conversons on, so the info is here.

But I want to know what you use the truck for?
its not your only option, and not always the best option.

As mentioned before research, research, research. There is alot of info out there, even beyond this board, Google is your friend. More than likely your SAS will involve welding, if you don't know how to weld, take some classes. Suspension is not the place to learn how to weld. Your life and the life of others depends on your abilities out on the road and on the trail. I'll move this thread for you to the proper location.

Thanks Doug for moving my post i did not see the other forum before i posted, i have done some looking around and have got the idea down just need like a list of parts i would need, not brand name or model just like axle leaf or coil steering box all that stuff not sure what all i will need in the end i am still looking but if any one can help it would be appreciated thanks again for the help robert

You are wise to go straight to a solid axle from stock, rather than first 'wasting' money on various lift kit first, like many of us.

You should look at Jefe's thread in the Solid Axle Registry. He started with the same front end you have, I believe. There's probably a few more guys that SAS'd a 2nd gen (IFS), but I can't think of them offhand.

Yomie, JoshC, and hiridin have all put dana 30 front axles under their trucks. As said above, do some searching. I know there are a couple of threads within the past day or two, where a few of us, including myself, have answered what the main parts are that are needed. It will be a bit different depending on if you go coils or leaf springs, and you will also need a steering box for yours. Search, search, search.
