My 03 Explorer battery seems to be discharging on its own. I replaced the original battery and then replaced the replacement less than a year later but I am still having problems. The alternator is charging at 13.9. The only thing on my vehicle that isn't stock is a remote starter. I have wondered if the remote starter is causing my battery discharge since on occasion I have heard the door locks lock when the vehicle is parked without me pressing the remote. I don't want to remove/replace the remote start without being sure it will fix the problem. If I have my interior light on for a half hour or so while loading the vehicle, it won't start. A buddy with an 02 Explorer told me that he runs into the same issue when leaving a door open while loading.
Are there any known issues that would cause my battery to drain, or should I blame my remote starter?
