03 Explorer V8 steering rack

thinking of installing a reman steering rack and trying to avoid potential problems. Knowing the difficulty of extricating it does someone know if it is different (more difficult) on the V8 model?

it's not that difficult, you need an extra hand when re-installing the steering shaft to the rack.

As long as you have experience with removing and replacing suspension components, are generally strong or have impact tools, and have a general understanding of automotive repair, you should be able to get the job done, I second that an extra hand is always useful. Remember to get plenty of new fluid, and also it may be a good idea to replace the steering pump and also drive belt at this time if need be.
