HI,
I have a "door-open" alarm coming up and all doors are closed. I guess it is a faulty door-open sensor but I can't figure out where they are on the vehicle. Any clues??

Thanks ... TC

Check the liftgate......

I did - its not that!

I believe the sensors are in the latch

they are physically inside the door if I recall correctly. Search for using like WD40 sprayed in the latch area or something like that as the fix. It could also be a broken wire in the loom that goes in between the door and the car. Unless this shows as a code that a code reader can get, you'll wind up yanking door panels. Be careful, there are a few tabs that I didn't expect and wound up breaking them in the switch panels...

thanks - can't wait to try this!

i wonder why ford can't get that problem right? i had the same problem with my 97 and 99 rangers i had. and am now just starting to notice it a little bit with the passenger side door of the explorer.. takes a couple seconds for the door ajar light to go off when the pass side door is closed..... eh

In my experience (I have an '03) it's usually the driver's door sensor, because the latch gets the most use/dust/gunk in it.

I just did a "how to" on replacing the door ajar sensor. The sensor is located in the bottom of the latch. The sensor itself is only an inch or so long and maybe half an inch in diameter and plugs into the bottom of the latch. In one of my photos you can see the pink connector to the sensor. It looks like it's at the top of the latch, but in the photo, I'm actually holding the latch upside down.

Hope this helps. If you don't want to take the sensor out, etc. Just spray a lot of WD-40 in the latch area and open and close the door a bunch of times...this should fix it at least temporarily...it's what I used to do.

Thanks a bunch - I had to travel this week and so haven't had a chance to try the wd40 fix. Wow - if that fails it looks like edwx has the real deal!
