So the mounty decided to stall today at a stop light for no reason. It's been running fine, getting great MPGs (22mpg hwy @70mph w/AC), no other issues; there was no rough idling, no sputtering. It just died out of no where and all the telltales that illuminate when you turn the key to run popped up with no unusual errors or telltales illuminated. Put it in park, and she started right back up no issues and ran fine the 15min till I got home.

My question is we just moved and there's this nice "el cheapo" gas station around the corner i've used to put about 15 gallons of fuel in since saturday. Could the cheap gas be the cause of this random stall? She has never stalled on me before, and i've never used "el cheapo" gas.

mine did that out of the blue just two weeks ago, two days after i changed my motor...I never figured out why either.., mine happened when i slowed down a little faster than normal...and then when i pushed the gas it just didnt move, and i looked down and sure as hell it had died...was the engine cold at the time? have you changed your air filter in the last couple weeks? is your IAC clean? if it was bad gas your truck would have let you know, there would be knocking + rough idle...run some injector cleaner + ISO heat to make sure there isnt any water in your gas tank...if it doesnt happen again think of it as one of those flukes that go with these rigs lol

The engine was far from cold, this happened on the return trip to my house so she had plenty of time to warm up. Air filter has ~8K on it, I change it every 12K. I haven't confirmed a dirty IAC, but I get that wierd grumble that goes along with a dirty IAC; but between work, moving, and the constant monsoon which is the northeast lately, cleaning it has been an issue.

Drove the 20mi trip to work today with no issues, so I guess we'll see how it goes.

well check the IAC and the plastic tube that leads to it for kinks, but im willing to bet that it is just one of those flukes that happen every now and then. But good luck either way.

I'm thinking the same thing.

**** happens I suppose; I just wish **** happened to vehicles that I don't have to worry about :p:

hahahaha i know what you mean.

SOB it just did it again, this time I was pulling out of a parking spot. Put it in reverse, went to give it some gas and it died.

check the IAC valve...thats probably the most likely cause of a stall like that.

It's raining here, again... Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow so I can take a look at it since I took tomorrow off anyway.
