ok I I have a 2003 ford explorer sport 4x4 fully loaded 88k miles 4.0 v6 auto
im driving all day then suddenly i start it and its running poorly, stalling, so I turn it off and on a couple times, no change.
So attempting to drive anything above 10% throttle and the engine stops running completly will only go 30 mph up a hill for example.
I limp home 20 miles shut it off and start it back up and it runs perfect, wait a lil while try again and it runs poorly again. It pretty much decides how it wants to run each time you start it.
Also while it will barely run the AC compressor will not kick on. but then works fine when the engine is running good again.
So we drove it up to the dealer and the techs cant seem to mimic the problem, and the computer is giving NO CODES! so of course the warranty isnt covering the 90$ diagnostics, or anything else untill we find something wrong with it. I cant drive this truck when its gonna leave me stranded on the highway or something.

What do I do?
What normally goes wrong with these trucks? tps? maf?
Im a euro gal so I dont really know.

There are three main systems that need to work for your engine to run properly.

You need a spark, fuel and oxygen. I am guessing air is fine, so now that leaves spark and fuel.

I doubt it is spark related because you are getting ignition and timing seems to be fine initially, but would lean towards a fuel sending issue or bad fuel.

Just a guess.

My grandma knew that.

My grandma knew that.

Please dont come here asking for advice and then go bashing other members for the advice they have given you, its not cool AT ALL.

Try and clean the MAF sensor, i doubt its TPS or CPS as it shouldn't run at all.
It sounds like its going into Failure Mode any dash lights?

Battery/Volts OK?

Outside chance it could be one of those, maybe a clogged Cat? O2 sensors?
How well equipped are your dealers? How far away are you from a dealer to limp to them while its happing?

I will try to clean the maf, thats what ive been leaning towards.
funnny thing is, no dash failure lights. battery/volts are ok. dunno anything about this dealer, they seem to be a larger one in town. and they are definitely close enough to limp to when it gives me problems... will prolly stall when I get there and then start up like nuthing happened.

well its just useless info from a noob, your a noob also. bashing? really? seriously though, my grandma knew it was leaning out.

Ok since I dont know what a noob is I will choose to ignore that statement. However you shuoldnt be coming onto this forum asking for advice and then complaining about what you get. Seriously the guy answered with the best of his knowledge trying to help you, if you and your grandma knew that already ignore it. Really, what are you like 15, 16, maybe 17?

Also judging by your vehicle description, an explorer sport (which is 2 dr, unless you have the XLT with sport pkg) , your posting in the wrong section. Maybe that is something your grandma can help you with.

hahah youve got to much time on your hands.

tom.rod might well be on the money, fuel pump, fuel filter. Its about the only thing i can think of that wouldn't trip a CEL and it would run like $hit. I may remember a post or two about someone with a similar problem, year or so ago?

Grandma

I wouldn't listen to me. I am only a Mechanical Engineer and certified mechanic. I probably have no idea what I am talking about since I am a "noob" to this forum.

Your question was posted with a lot of vague issues. Plus you wrote "Im a euro gal so I dont really know"

Hope you figure it out.
