04 4.6 limited
I purchased a 04 4.6 limited for a winter vehicle. It has 140,000 The motor had a knock and I swapped in a 04 4.6 with 160,000. I replaced the exhaust manifold and the cat back and torque converter.

It has a rough idle. Somtimes worse than other times. It finally threw a p0174 sys to lean bank 1. I've double checked wire connections and vacum lines. Basically the 4 off the throttle body. I cleaned the throttle body. You can push it farther to close but the old engine is the same way.

Ive read this site alot and swapped the pcv, pcv hose off the old engine.

I've sprayed brake cleaner around the Intake as it has visiual cracks on it.

I'm really scratching my head. The old engine had no codes stored. I haven't got the code to pull up again but it seems to be running worse.

I have a basic code reader and scanned threw and the fuel trends looked goofy

Short 1 . -3.1
Long 1 3.1
Short 2 -.8

Long 2 22.7

I haven't driven the car more than a mile so the long term could be from the old engine.

Swapped vacum lines. Pressure tested coolant. Engine still shaking at idle. Any ideals?

I would clean the MAF
If you have a cracked intake, is it cracked on bank one? That might explain the fuel tables

It’s adding a lot of fuel. So you are either getting extra air, not enough fuel or have a bad sensor?

What are your O2’s reading?

I did the throttle reset and I checked the 02 voltages to check for a bad convertor and the 02s seem to be acting fine

Bank 1 short 7.1
Bank 1 long 2.3

Bank 2 short 3.9
Bank 2 long 22.7

The shorts bounce around but that's what they were at the time I took the picture .
After the throttle relearn the short2 was 23 and longs were 0 once it relearned the long2 went to 23 and the short went back to normal.

I cleaned the maf sensor. Also did a smoke test. Found a hole is the valve cover from it getting pulled. I epoxied it up and it and had high hopes but it didn't fix the problem. Wondering why the smoke in vac line is getting Into the valve cover.

The idle quality seems to get worse the longer it runs.

Any Resolution....did all and still low idle.

If you can, I suggest an OBII and Forscan. Desired Idle vs RPM can tell something. Try unplugging the MAF. If its bad it will really screw things up.

Will do thank you. Is there a sensor for MAF because I did unplug the MAF and the whole car went nuts. I ended up cleaning a sensor inside the curving tube thingy that leads to the throttle something door, that opens and closes, it was new looking-so I left it alone, re set codes. But is there a sensor for MaF-thats close to the purge valve right? because that purge cannister- a mechanic broke off the tip (connects to bottom hose) I went to pick a part and put on that used one. Maybe I should've gotten a new one?

Ended up being misfire. Plugs and coils solved the problem.

My brother in law did plugs and wires. Is coils the correct term? Maybe he put them on wrong? How can I check, what tool do I need? And since I've never worked on a car should I attempt it. I'm pretty handy for a female.:(
Shouldve kept the honda:rant:

Have you ever replaced the plugs and boots? That straightened my 4.6 out.
