I have an 05 Explorer with 31,000 miles.

The other day it stalled while driving and now wont start.

Im being told that some of the first things to check for are fuel and "spark".

By fuel, I think they mean the fuel pump. How does one check to verify if the fuel pump is working?

How does one go about checking for "spark"?

Are there any other common starting issues?

Merry Christmas everyone.

2005 is the best model year for the 3rd generation Explorer. After fixing most issues, the 4th gen came out fresh with new ones.

It's awesome that you found a 05 with so few miles......do you know that the mileage is legit?
Everyone wants low miles, but too low of miles isn't good either. All the parts don't fair well when idle for long periods.

If you don't work on cars much, I'd take this to a shop. For all the testing you'd need to do, a $90 diagnostic would be money well spent.
Is the pump working? At what psi?
Is the PCM bad?
Cylinder compression check. Coil pack bad?
