I most likely will need to replace my RH sunvisor for my 2006 Mountaineer, as the mirror/light assy has become 90% detached from the visor itself.

I haven't found anything specifically for the '06 model. I've found 7L2Z-7804104-GA as the correct item (RH, camel color, with sunroof). However, in this listing (and several others) it specifies only for '07-'09). '06 being the first model year for 4th gen, what would have changed by '07 that would prevent the '07 from fitting my '06?

Not sure, but just take your vin to the dealership parts counter and order another one. They will get you the correct one. You could also put your vin in on fordparts.com and it would give you the correct part number too.

My guess, there is no change and it will fit. And if it is different, it's probably better. I have an 06 and have been upgrading it with various later model interior trim parts to get it to a point that I am happy with. Check fortparts.com and compare the pictures and part numbers from the two years.
