1/4 Mile Run Times

Well you can't blame a guy for trying...:D

This is Ken's thread. Sorry but I won't discuss pricing for a product of ours on his thread. That's a no no :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

What an awesome Forum! We have two competing tuners talking back and forth on the same forum! Very cool!!!

Here is an idea... How about Livernois and Lund Racing run a special deal for those of us on the fence to where we should go for our tunes. Each company could discount their tunes if we buy from both of you at the same time... That way we can give our business to both companies plus we can give our feedback and comparisons of each company tune...

Just a thought... ;-)
I have an even better idea... Open the tuner up so we can try tunes from either vendor? The Lund tuner and the liver no is tuner is the same device!
What say you gentlemen?:)

I think I have asked nicely enough, more than once, to not make this a Lund Racing vs. Livernois thread. This thread is about my Explorer and the tuning I am doing on it. If you want to discuss anything else, please start a new thread.

I just hope the race tune doesn't get backed off too much, I want the rip your face off version for that! For a 93 tune though something a bit more tame is fine :)

I am a goof

Upon re-reading my post on this thread, I shouldn't have even posted it in the first place. At the time of writing it, I was just trying to find an A to B comparison and enjoying the forum and the enthusiasm, but having thought about it more, it was inappropriate in too many levels to mention. If I want to do and A to B comparison I can do it on my own by purchasing both. So bottom line, I apologize to the people at Livernois and to Ken. Now I just need to pony up the cash and get a Lund tune!!!! Then I can post my own neophyte comparison.....the way it should have been done in the first place!!!!!

My apologies Ken. No more "comparison" talk from me.... I look forward to getting my hands on your tune.

No offense intended! I'm in awe of what you've achieved with your Explorer. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on any further developments.

No need to apologize guys, not mad. Once you get to know me, I'm pretty much unfiltered and will tell you what I think lol. Sorry if my responses come off harsh sometimes.

Some good news, been tuning on the Explorer quite a bit in the last few days. I'll take it to the track on Wednesday if the weather is good. I'll test the current 93 tune, proposed 93 DD tune and the SuperSport tune.

Hoping the SS tune puts the Explorer in the 12s with no other modifications. But of course we will be battling the swamp like conditions here in South Florida this time of year.

Looking forward to hearing what it does!!!

I have been doing some testing on Ken's Super Sport tune as well... lets just say once it is released you guys are going to love it. With my blow off valves vented to atmosphere it is unreal how hard they blow off compared to the already obnoxious blow off on the 93 tune. The SS tune really throws you into the seat. The 93 tune feels awesome as well, it just doesn't have the brute power like the Super Sport tune. I have been loving the latest version of the 93 tune. Drives great and I have no complaints at all.

Also, the updating software is AMAZING and so easy to use. Takes literally 1-2 minutes from start to finish to update the device. Plug it in, Click update, done.

Wow!!! Off the forum for a few days and all this...im glad to see the tune has been release to the public. I'm waiting for new revisions then i will gladly purchase.

Thanks for all the hard work Ken!

Track isn't going to happen tonight, too much rain! Glad you are liking the SS tune. I can't wait to test it out at the track.

I should be releasing the SS tune and the new Daily driver tunes next week. When you order the tuner, we ship it blank anyway because you have to pull some info off of your Explorer so we load the proper tune on it.

I won't lie, i keep hoping to see an email that an update is available!

This is my first go around with Turbos......what are blow off valves?

Did you modify something on your blow off valves to accommodate the SS tune?

How hard is it to switch from the SS tune to the 93 tune?

Why don't you run the SS tune all the time?

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

The turbo builds boost, when you let off the gas your engine doesn't need that boost and it has to go somewhere. If it didn't get vented it can surge back and damage the turbo so vehicles use a diverter/recirculation valve or blow off valve to dump the excess pressure.

The sport recirculates that pressure back around to the intake, and there is a mod (separate from the tune itself) which allows you to change that to a vent to atmosphere setup which just gives you a noise, cool to some, annoying to others, but pick your poison.

I'll leave the tune talk up to Ken though!

The only changed recommended for the SS tune is to gap down the spark plugs to .025 No one is running the SS tune except me and Greg (gkviper192). We are both running it everyday. But it is an aggressive tune so we are evaluating the safety of the tune before we release it to the public. Also, it makes quite a bit of power and you may not want to hand over the keys to someone else with this tune on it. But I can tell you one thing, my wife would be pissed if I took it away!

When you gap down the spark plugs to. 025, will this effect the stock tune when switching back?

CobraJohn time to start some learnin!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve
Before playing with a turbo car I would highly suggest TONS of research to build your knowledge base.
You'll need to know about the turbos, wastegates, blow off valves and intercoolers. It's fun to learn and with these cars you'll be doing a TON of it.
:)
BTW, I did a how-to on the making your blow off valves vent to atmosphere yesterday for you guys, he had followed my directions because it sounds cool, no other reason.
