Pretty sure hes waiting for some cooler air....

Yes, it's been just awful down here. My Explorer is actually at the dealer for the fuel recall. They had to order a part and I won't have it back till Tuesday most likely.

I'll probably take it back to the track mid Sept. I'm been working on my water/meth tune on the street in the meantime.

Can you tell us more about the fuel recall on the Sports? I have not heard anything about this.

Ford Range Rover Explorer Sport. LOL. That's what I call it now.
All that's done is window tint, red calipers and LED lights. Soon to be Tune.

Just wanted to make sure everyone knows there is a new update out. You should have received an email, but sometimes it will go to spam.

As some of you know, my Explorer was in for the recall. Well, my right rear door was somewhat misaligned when I bought it, so I also asked them to adjust that. Well...it turned into a big job and they still have it. Had to take the door apart and reshape it! Not too happy about being without it this long, but at least it will be right when I get it back.

So this latest update is mostly a 'fix' update. I have new shift schedules I want to release, but want to test them out another week or so. I would expect a monthly update for at least the next few months as I perfect things.

Did the power get backed down in the new SS tune, or maybe an increase in tq management, just doesn't feel as strong to me but seems to shift smoother and quicker. maybe it's just all in my head!

It shouldn't feel slower. Are you talking about tip in/initial acceleration or after you are WOT? I think it may be in your head.

But once you try the new SS tune that includes the new shift points, you will be smiling again. :)

Just received my tuner, and sent over the vehicle information! The wait for the tune is going to kill me!!

I must say, I received the tuning device very quickly!

I'm getting you setup now. Should get an email back in a few to tell you the update is ready.

Talking about the initial tip in/acceleration. Especially in first, used to feel like it was more violent through first, but now it seems like i'm halfway through the gear when it starts to pick up.

I'm still getting an odd sound that occurs during the 2-3 WOT shift, probably going to need to take it in to the dealer if no one else is getting this. It's kinda like that sound we discussed in sand mode, where it chatters or when you go from reverse to drive (tsb fix sound).

My trans feels much smoother right now though, which is nice. I'm still get the stalling occasionally. Last night when i went from drive to reverse it was struggling.

Hey there guys. I'm new here. I'll be picking up my 2014 Explorer Sport tomorrow. I have been following this thread for a few weeks and it was one of the things that pushed me over to purchase the Explorer Sport over the Durango Hemi. Anyway, I'm not new to turbo cars and tuning. I do have a question about the drivetrain though. I've read that due to its front wheel drive base architecture the Ford Explorer drive train is not really suited for high torque levels and is the weak link. I'm wondering what your opinions are about the SS tune and drive train longevity. Is the SS tune providing enough torque to start breaking stuff on the tranny, differentials etc.

I have been in the Turbo game for about 20 years and still own my heavily modified Eagle Talon TSI AWD. On that car I got to the stage that I was breaking transmissions and causing major wear on the transfer cases so major upgrades in drivetrain had to be made. I don't really want to go that crazy with the Explorer as it will be my daily driver.

Hello. It's been a while since I have been on he Forum. I too also have an Explorer Sport. Red with all options, including the summer tires. 9,800 miles. I have done the following.
-Livernois Tune
-Magnaflow Exhaust (I hate with a passion! Horrible "drone") Will be replacing with Corsa/Livernois exhaust and downpipes soon.
-Colder plugs
-Livernois/K&N airbox
I have been very pleased with the results. (Minus the Magnaflow, it was not purchased from Livernois.) I too would like to find a solution to the wheel hop. If anyone has or comes up with a solution I would love to hear about it.

Ok, I think I can bring back some of that power. I FINALLY got my Explorer back on Friday but was in the Dominican Republic tuning this weekend. I'm going to start working on the next revision soon.

Ken,
I understand you have not had your Sport for a bit; but regarding your original post and dyno's for the DD and SS tunes over three months ago; do you have updated dyno charts and numbers as of yet?

Specifically, you stated on your website you were developing the SS tune for 350+ WHP and it should be available "soon." Is your current iteration of the SS tune indeed this or you haven't achieved it yet? Thank you.

No, it has not been dyno'd yet. I just got it back Friday and was out of the country tuning this weekend. But our marketing has never been dependent on dyno graph or numbers. It's based on the actual performance and how we do our tuning. That is why we do our tuning work on the street, under the conditions you actually use your vehicle. Plus I've been waiting for some decent air down here so the numbers are fairly accurate. If I dyno it at 100+ degrees, that doesn't really answer many questions since those are not common conditions for most people throughout the year.

I'll try and get it back on the dyno soon just to put an official number on it for those asking. Based on the 105 trap speeds that this tune has shown at the track, I'd say the 350 rwhp number is there. Maybe by the end of this week, but no promises.

ok, I employed a small mileage break-in period on my new Sport...500 miles; and tonight I put in the Lund DD tune, and wow what a difference; very nice indeed! My wife even likes it, but has to be careful as that first gas pedal push can catch her off guard :) Thank you Lund and Ken!
