Hey everybody.
So Im looking to put on the smallest wheels that will clear my brakes and the tallest tires I can fit/not tear up the trans. I plan to lift it with the Traxda kit but I want to get the wheels/tires situated 1st.
I think 255/65/17 is the same as my OEM 255/50/20s but I would like to go bigger. I would love some replica older Mustang wheels 17x9s with a lip and mud tires...
Can anybody help me out?

I thought 18s were needed to clear the brakes?

The 2 sizes you mentioned are the same in diameter variance but a 17" wheel is too small. You will have to go with at least an 18". The brakes were all upgraded to heavy-duty at the midpoint of the 2013 production run. Prior to that, a 17" would fit. A 255/60R18 would be the same diameter variance as your OEM size.
