If youre hurtin for money whyre you lookin for new rims and tires?

Your best bet is to only buy a set of FOUR. You'll just mess up the wheel if you plan on using the fifth as a spare. Keep your stock spare under the truck..if you want it to match, just get a stock size tire to match your new ones. If you want cheap, you can always try auto stores these days..pepboys sells em cheap. Then again you get what you pay for so dont expect much. If you want to do it right, find someone selling their rims or better yet the whole deal...you can pick up a fresh set of metal and rubber for half what youd pay new. Other than that just check around at wheel shops and see whats on sale or find one that wants to get rid of a old wheel style that happens to fit your Explorer.

300th post yay :)

Dont cheap out on rims and tires, youll suffer in the long run. As anime said, you dont need a fifth wheel/tire as long as youre spares diameter is the same as the new wheel/tire combo you choose. If you cant afford a decent set right now, just save youre money bro for a good set. Any questions, feel free to ask me.

A little of the topic. Sideswipe whats going on with your truck? Is your insurance company going to fix it or are you gettin a new ride? Such a nice truck sorry that some jerk hit you.

Hey Joe-

The insurance company paid me for the 95 Explorer and I paid off what I owed the finance comapny, and put the rest down on my new 1998 Explorer Eddie Bauer that I got 2 weeks ago. Check my sig line for the mods I've already done to it. It really was a jerk that hit me, thanks for the condolences... =)

Sideswipe - Do you have any pics of your new truck? Also where is your tv?

I'll be posting some pics this week, the weathers been kinda on again off again. I have the TV mounted on an adjustable gooseneck. I can also remove it from the vehicle by detatching the svhs cable and umounting it from the base (kinda like a 35mm camera on a tripod).

Thats awesome sean. I'm glad to see that you got another nice truck. Are you planning to do many mods to it?

Joec5-

of course! I have to make my truck stand out from all the soccer moms with Explorers.

Planned Mods:

Billet & Bumper Billet Grille
Cat Back Exhaust (not sure which)
Superchip (not sure which)
B&I molded wood dash (medium burlwood)
Side Marker lamps
PIAA 1500 Fogs

Thats all I can think of right now!
I'm taking suggestions....

I will admit though, the suspension in this EB feels a lot better/different than my 95 XLT. Can anyone tell me the differences between the EB and XLT models of Explorers?

the only difference between the eb and xlt models is the options. generally after 98 the limited and eb models have the 6cyl sohc engine and the v8 as an option. inside there are the computer thing and a mach sound system. leather as always with power buckets. on the outside u got the tan moldings and usually a 16inch rim with 265s i think. as for the suspension i believe it is the same as the xlt unless u got a electronic air ride control thingy

Sideswipe - Are you going to add the clear corners too? Soudns great, can't wait to see pics and the final product.

thx for the info pemerling

4wheelin- I already added the clear corners, I forgot to add it to my sig! Thx for reminding me.

I got my billet grill for $60 shipped to me by a guy on ebay. he says for the bumper grill its another $45 though. Just giving you a comparison. I have a '95 so if you have any cool stuff that wont fit on your new truck let me know I might take it off your hands.

How hard was the ebay guy's billet grille install? I ordered one, but im not that good with some things...

Take the corner lights off. 4 screws.
screw behind each corner, 4 screws on top of the radiator support, pull it off I believe it is a 7/16 socket to remove them(the emblem).
You might be able to do it without taking everything off, but chances are slim. It pissed me off tooo that I had to take that **** off.
Good luck I hope I can post some pics soon!

I too bought the billet grill from ebay and got it installed in about half an hour. The Ford logo was a pain to get off, but I was able to get it off with a little pressure. Here is a picture of it installed. I just ran outside to take the picture and it was sprinkling a little. That explains the "dots" in the pictures.

There are some pictures of my stereo install on the link listed in my sig for those interested...

Let's just say the bolts that hold mine together hate my stereo.

Sorry this is off-topic but does anyone have any idea about how much chrome plating would be on a billet grille? I have a 91 and the little bars are further apart and I was thinking about chrome plating them. Any feedback appreciated, thanks.

I just put on the bumper and billet grilles. For some reason I had no problem getting the Ford emblem off. It was a ***** at first to remove all those screws to take the grille shell out, but not that bad. Done all in about an hour.
