18" rims and tires

Hey guys,

First time poster, long time reader. I have a set of 18"x8" rims on my 1997 explorer XLT 2WD. right now I have a set of 245/65x18 tires on them. the tires look okay, but a little small in the fender wells. i dont want to lower the truck since i do alot of camping and need to be able to handle rough roads (not necessarily off roading type stuff). anyways, im looking for a tire size thats a little more rugged looking. i was thinking a 255/55x18, but thats less sidewall. any suggestions/pictures would be great. I also have the stock 15" rims if it would be easier to go back that route.

Welcome to the forum! I would recommend checking out the Galleries on this site and the Registries. Check out people's rides and in most cases if you like what you see, their tire size will be posted on there. If not you can ask them.

I'm not a fan of big rims so I'd say go back to stock, best bet is going to be a 265/65/18 if you wanna keep the 18's. Probably gonna rub a little though, but who knows
265/65/18 = 31.6x10.4/18
