1978 3/4 ton 2wd Ford rear end pinion seal.

Wondering if anyone has any how to links, or advice on how to change the seal. So far alls I have found is a write up on doing a ford ranger and I have no idea if they are similar at all. My dads truck and he thinks the seal may be bad as it is leaking from that area.

The procedure should be the same on all differentials since it's only a seal that's pressed into place. Do you have a seal puller, and a driver set?

No I do not have the correct tools, but have not seriuosly looked into what is needed yet. The above link is the write up i found. Thanks

That would be great, stupid question but how would I tell which rear end it has? I know on my Durango the 2 different rear ends have a different amount of bolts, if this is by chance the same. He can go down and take a look at it.

The front of the axle looks like this:

And the back looks like this:

Yours will be a little different but this should allow you to see. If your axle is like this I can get you some pictures. I just changed mine.
