1985 F150 5.0 is blowing dark smoke.

i recently purchased a 1985 f 150 5.0 FI the truck has new engine installed and new intake manifold. the new intake does not have an outlet for a knock sensor, therefor knock sensor is disconnected. the truck is blowing excessive black smoke and running very rich. Any ideas?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread to the all other makes & models section. Do you have a check engine light coming on? How old is the catalytic converter?

No light coming on, the catalytic converter has been removed. truck sat for 3 yrs after new engine was put in.
