1987 Ranger with 2.9 fuel shut off switch location

I have a 1987 Ranger with a 2.9 that I just bought a month ago and it keeps stranding me!!!! I will be driving along and it stalls and then wont start again for at least a few days. I have replaced the fuel filters, the fuel pump relay and I can hear the fuel pump. When ever we think it is fixed it surprises me with stalling again grrr!!!
I used to own a escort years ago and I just remembered that did the same thing and when I sold it the person told me it was the fuel pump shut off switch so I ordered one and we can't find where it is... I was told behind the kick plate but it wasn't there.. So does anyone know where it is? Any help would be appreciated...

On my 89 Ranger it was on the passenger side, just about where the top of the carpet ends under the dashboard. IIRC.
