1991 explorer sport 4x4 rear lights

hi guys so I have a 91 explorer sport, when I press the break the lights work just fine but when I turn on the headlights the tail lights don't turn on (they keep working when pressing the break) any input please??

You'll need to get new bulbs. The bulbs have two filaments in them. One for brake lights/turn signals and one for taillights.

New bulbs is likely, but it could also be a poor connection to the bulb. Pay attention when you replace them, the taillight holder is a 2 piece design. Unplug both and clean the contacts. Make sure the spring steel is not sacked out, and bend the tabs in if they are.
