1991 stock sterio wont turn on when cold

hey i have a 1991 explorer with the stock cd player and when it is cold outside my sterio will not turn on does anyone know why its doing this?

my guess would be that its broken.
upgrading to a new stereo would most likely solve this problem AND you would have better sound (as long as its a decent stereo).
and if you geta nice one you can also have satellite radio or hook up your ipod or whatever.

Sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere.. Since cold causes metal to shrink it would cause the connection to loose continuity and fail to turn on.. Heat causes metal to expand which would help the connection to make better contact/continuity. To correctly diagnose this you'd need to get a meter and test for power at the units wire harness to see if its getting 12v when ACC is on...

yeah ill look at that tomorrow, and i will eventualy buy a new sterio, when i have mony to spend on that if you know what i mean.
