1992 Eddie Bauer Explorer. Where's the trailer light fuse?

1992 explorer don't know where trailer lights fuse is. Saw another post about fuses under hood near maxi fuses. I only have maxi fuses under the hood. I have bought new "T" plug for behind rear bumper and changed it out still no lights at all. PLEASE PLEASE help have to haul trailer for work and don"t need any more blue light specials

Does your Radio work? If so, all you need is the cable...

I own a '92 XLT which I think is very similar to the Eddie Bauer.

The trailer lights connector cable activates a relay for the trailer. That way, If you blow the trailer lights, the main lights keep working. The trailer lights are fused with the radio, so when the radio stops working as you back the boat into the water, you know you have blown the fuse. It is in the main fuse block under the console on the drivers side.

The connector is below the drivers side rear tail light and it is a bear to get on and off due to the seals they use. It has 7 prongs, but only 4 of them make it out to the end. There are three ground return lines that are joined together a bit down the cable. ( I had two and took one apart to see, hoping there were brake control lines in there, no such luck.) Due to the special connector, it is best that you purchase a cable with the round plug on one end and a 4 wire flat connector on the other end. It can be purchased from a dealership or online from any number of places.

Hope this helps,

Karl
