I have a 1992 Ford Ranger with a 4cyl, 5-speed manual and electronic 4x4. Im getting ready to remove the tranny to install a new clutch and slave cylinder. Can I drop the transmission without removing/draining the transfer case? If I can do this...do I have to drain the tanny?

I have done clutches before in my Mustangs, but never a 4x4. Thanks.

You don't have to drain either, but it would make them both slighty lighter. If you're using a trnny jack, it wouldn't matter, if you're going to 'benchpress' them out and in, it might!

I've read of people (410, I think) removing the trans and t-case together as one piece, but I seperated them when I did my clutch.

If you do a search for "replace clutch", there's a couple good threads here.

Good luck!

thanks.
