1993 ford explorer frame question

what is inside the frame rail on the drivers side right where the transmission crossmember bolts to. theres like a little pocket right there on the inside. no lines or anything go in there or anything but it smokes bad when i weld on the outside of the frame rail. just gettin nervous cause it's smokin so bad.
i can see that there is something in there like a spring .
anyone have a quick answer?? want to get this welded up right now

Thats the pocket for the Fuel Filter. The Brake lines are also in the same area.

.yea the fuel filter and fuel lines and brake lines is right there but it's not in the pocket.
.the little pocket i think it for bracing the transmission crossmember. it has some holes in it for the plastic brackets that hold the brake line and fuel filter.
.so i think it had a leak near there at some point and alot of grease got in these holes and caked the inside with dirt so when i couldn't get in there and clean the material.
.anyways i just nutted up and welded it , it smoked like a ***** cause the grease was getting hot on the other side... oh well done now.. thanks guys:roll:
