1996 B4000 leaking gas filler tube

The fuel filler tube -- which I think is a piece of flex tubing between gas tank and filler cap. If I fill up full, I get fuel leaking from the filler tube. So, I keep the tank around 7/8 full.

The guy who does the work on the truck says the bed must be removed to replace the filler neck hose.

Is this right -- do i need to pull off the entire bed to REPLACE the filler tube

You could drop the gas tank, you could cut a hole in the floor of the bed, but removing the bed is the easiest way. It’s just 6 bolts and unplug the taillights, slide the bed back hallway onto a saw horse to expose the gas tank end of the filler hose.
