I have a 1996 Explorer 4.0 4x4 automatic with 152K. This week it has started to not want to start once warm. It throws no trouble codes, cranks over fine, fuel pump is kicking on; it just isn't getting spark when doing this. Once cooled down enough it has spark and starts up with no issues whatsoever. The plugs, wires, fuel filter, starter, and battery are two years old and only have 15K on them. The crank position sensor is new and has only been on the truck for two days. When I replaced it I used a pick to clean the connector terminals, and also gave it a generous spray down with electrical parts cleaner. It does this mostly when my girlfriend comes home on her lunch break (we live only 5 miles by highway from her job). When she goes to head back to work it will act up. Also I have her shut off the truck and restart it once she gets to work, and it will restart. Only about a half hour of sitting after shutting it off it will it not want to start. No more coming home on her lunch until this is solved! I have searched for hours on here and google with no definitive answers. I also used streetrod2000's no start procedure and ruled everything out by that EXCEPT the ect. But could the ect cause no spark when warm? (I now know of it's importance to the pcm from streetrod when he gave helpful advice on a question regarding my truck from a few days ago). Thanks for any info anyone can give me, greatly appreciated.
