Happy Friday everyone! I have a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT with the 5.0 and 4r70w trans. I have had it for a while now with several projects going on at once including:

Replacing full suspension
Swapping damaged 4r70w trans for replacement
paint & vinyl wrap of body
interior renovation

The question I have is regarding the drivers seat. It is one of the full power sport type seats with the side bolsters and lumbar. The owner before me was quite large and the seat feels like you're sitting on the frame itself. I removed the seat, removed the slider track as well as the seat cover to find the metal spring base is broken in several areas. I'm not sure what this part is called but was wondering if anyone has had experience replacing this part and if there is an affordable place to get one? I could always go to a salvage yard, there are a ton of them here in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.

Thank you,

Russ

anywhere that does auto upholstery should be about to sell you some replacement spring wire.
