OK guys here's the deal all the parts yards are telling me the 5R55E trans in my explorer is 1997 only. But the problem is i don't believe this from what i can tell from looking at the 98 through 2001 explorers they look identical except no overdrive drum sensor top front of transmission but my understanding is you can cut the plugin off and tie the 2 wires together and you don't have to have it also telling me it has to be out of SOHC but i don't think that is true either because the 4.0 block is drilled and tapped for the manual trans also and they will fit both SOHC and the OHV motors i have found a trans out of a 2000 explorer it is the 5R55E with 126k on it for 400.00 but don't want to buy it if it wont work someone please help if you can. TY in advance for your help.PS this explorer is 4X4

4wd and rwd are different, but the same 5r55e is called for 97-01
