Hi!! This forum is great. I have a 1997 Ford Explorer V8 that is leaking green fluid that is in the middle of the engine. Just behind the Surpintine Belt..Is this the thermostat or the water pump? Can someone help me please?

Welcome to the forum
I would hazard a guess that it is more likely the thermostat.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the stock 95-01 section. You should connect a cooling system pressure tester to the cooling system to pinpoint the leak. Don't guess when you could get this tool from Autozone's tool loaning program.

while the thermostat housing can leak and the front timing cover seems to always eventually leak, another possible culprit is the bypass hose that connects between the thermostat housing and the intake manifold. Is there a small puddle of coolant sitting on top of the water pump? Take some pics and post if ya gotz the tools.
