1997 Ford Explorer oil filter neck leak

Good morning guys and gals. Just wondering how dumb it would be to add some blackmax or similar gasket maker to the outside of the oil filter neck. It seems like there’s a small leak from the gasket and I’m wanting to reduce drip during the winter. Eventually I’m going to drain oil and coolant and replace the gasket but I don’t have the time to do that right now. Looking for a quick bandaid fix to help reduce oil loss until next spring.
