1997 XLT with left cam/chain rattle.

hello, my girlfriend loves her 97 xlt control trac 4wd, but the left hand cam shaft chain is making a rattle when the engine warms up( its quite upon cold start up), also the ac dryer seams to be leaking. Is it possible to change the drivers side camshaft guides and tensioners with the engine in the vehicle. She already had to replace the transfer case 2x. We are trying to decide if we should fix the XLT or sell it . thanks for any input, ps it has 212570 on it and runs good except for rattle and no ac, thanks Tom
