I didn't want to Hijack the recent thread on a 96 with a similar problem so started another.

The mileage in my 98 has recently gone to crap. I used to get about 16mpg, now it's more like 13. Over the last few months it would oocasionally have a dead spot midway on the throttle. Could a TPS cause poor mileage? I have Forescan on my PC and will try to check the voltages soon. Any other thoughts?

Thanks
Bryan

It could be lots of things...
Is CEL on?
Need a tune up?
Dragging brake(s)?
Bad ECT sensor?
Bad IAT sensor?
Malfunctioning O2 sensor(s)?
Thermostat stuck open?
Low tire pressure?

Comments below. The TPS voltage ranges from 0.93 to 4.5 and seems to be a smooth incline.
I meant to clean the MAFS today but forgot.

I was going to take the Expl on a 500 mile trip later this week, but @ 13mpg I may be better off taking the F250 7.3.....

It could be lots of things...
Is CEL on? No
Need a tune up? No
Dragging brake(s)? Not that I know of
Bad ECT sensor? IDK
Bad IAT sensor? IDK
Malfunctioning O2 sensor(s)? IDK
Thermostat stuck open? Don't think so, it's staying midway in the temp range where it always is
Low tire pressure? No

Any other thoughts on this?
Can a TPS even affect the fuel economy?
