The car I had before I got the Explorer was an escort.

I doesn't go anymore :(

It had a large oil leak (I think from the valve cover) which I believe got onto the Timing belt, causing it to slip.

I'm currently in the process of fixing it up a bit, in an attempt to sell it.

My problem is this : There is a plastic piece underneath the car that i under the engine. This piece hangs down, and doesn't look good at all. I'm trying to Find the part name, so that I can call around to the local junkyards and get it.

I can try taking a picture of it later, but I have no idea what it's called. :banghead:

A pic would help. If you can get the piece off it should have a part number on it some place and you can look up it's name that way. I had a 98 escort that I traded on my explorer. It was a great car. 30mpg+ the entire time I had it. Did very little work to it and it had 111k on it when I traded it.

Yeah, it's a great car that I treated like crap.

I'll try to get a pic today, but it's raining, so who knows...

I'm not sure that I'll be able to find a part # on there. It's covered in oil sludge. It's where all the leaking oil collected.

I think I have heard them called splash shields.

Here's the pictures I could take before the battery died.

not sure what it's called, but you can see that everything's covered in oil

I think those are just dust shrouds.
